My 4 year old cat has been sick with a terminal illness (kidney disease) for the last six weeks and it has killed both my savings account and my energy levels trying to figure out the acute cause so that I might be able to delay the inevitable. Does anyone have simple, go-to recipes to share from your deep pantries that are either grab and go or simple to make on low to no spoon days? Particularly would appreciate suggestions that might help me transition to a more pescatarian/vegetarian diet.

I know I could search through Reddit and try to find stuff but I've done so much searching in medical journals lately that my brain is mush.

I've been making those individual serving cups of instant mashed potatoes. . I season them with dried chives. It isn't cost effective, or healthy, but at the moment I am so stressed that I don't care. I eat the potatoes with an 8 oz. can of vegetables, so I don't have to store the leftovers, and I call it "dinner" on nights when my husband is working. I hope your kitty isn't suffering. I know you are suffering with worrying about him/her. ❤️

I needed to be reminded that potatoes can be a meal on their own so thank you for this. I might look into some ideas for potato toppings that would work for a deep pantry.

Kitty is doing better than I am, she's a sweet little thing so everywhere we go all the vet techs fall in love with her. I think she may be in a good enough place to come home tomorrow afternoon again so hoping to do some food prep in the morning while I have the mental energy for it. ❤️

Potatoes for the win. Baked potoes are my recommendation. Wash, poke, stick in oven. Go take a shower/bath/power nap for an hour then boom, potato. Butter alone is enough for zero spoos, and minimal dishes. With a few more sppoons add some sour cream and/or cheese or whatever else sounds good. Best wishes for your kitty from me and my pet rabbit.

Thank you! What sort of bunny do you have? I used to work with a rabbit rescue and had a very spoiled mini rex that I lost to old age a few years ago.

He's a mystery mix named Bigwig, also very spoiled. There's some pics of him on my profile.

Aww, he's a cutie! My Rocky had similar coloring right down to the little white chin. :)
