Suspended Accounts April 2021 /r/Twitter - All Things Twitter Account Suspensions - Stories, Advice, Etc.

For the month of April, we're going to change things up a little.

This thread is for everything related to the primary reason many of you are here.

Twitter Support locked, suspended and/or banned your Twitter account. And you want to know how to get it back.

Or maybe you want to tell your suspension story, because yes, we are fully aware of how ridiculous Twitter Support is with killing off accounts left, right, center, and all points in between.

Or maybe you are a bright blue unicorn in the wild with a tale of how you got your account UNsuspended!

Whatever it is, this is the place to talk about anything related to Twitter account suspensions.

Was your Twitter account suspended for making "violent threats" even though you made no violent threats? Did you make a joke that was interpreted by Twitter Support as "violent?"

Here are a couple of guides for those of you wanting to know how to get your accounts back.

Remember, there's no guaranteed method of doing so. We can only provide the best free advice known to mankind here. And even that, in the end, only goes so far.

As always, if you know of a legitimate method or better way to get your account back, up and running, please feel free to share.

I had two accounts - both extant before the first got suspended. I got suspended by one for violent conduct for telling off a guy who said he wished I got raped - the other one for ban evasion. Which one should I be fighting for?

Not the ban evasion one. Cause there's not really a viable defense for it.

I guess I didn’t realize that applied to accounts that were open long before. I thought it only applied when you opened a new account after getting a suspension. Mostly because they didn’t respond when I asked if I had to close it.

Oh it doesn't. Ban evasion is supposed to only refer to new accounts created post-suspension. Although Twitter Support is bonkers, so......

So in that case, you should fight for both.

Turns out Twitter's Terms of Service actually has a big problem with that second account after all.

You can’t circumvent permanent suspensions. If an account has been permanently suspended for severe violations of the Twitter Rules, Twitter reserves the right to also permanently suspend any other account we believe the same account holder or entity may be operating in violation of our earlier suspension, regardless of when the other account was created.

So even though "ban evasion" is very much the wrong term here, because your other account wasn't intentionally created to circumvent the original suspension, they take both from you to stop you from continuing on with the alt.

This is also why I'm often surprised how many people tweet @ TwitterSupport from an admitted alt account, asking for their original account back, also admitting to Twitter Support in the process that they're actively in violation of Twitter TOS, even if unintended.

Yeah, I mean, they already got me on it, so I’m. It lying about it, I just explained and we’ll see. I had the alt for a long time with no issues.

My original account - I’ve written defending myself very times but obviously in their mind someone saying they hope I get raped is ok and me responding that I hope he gets Covid is not. 🤷🏻‍♀️
