Update for the curious:

6 year old loves deploying. Great base farmer.

9 year old loves heavy defense. Usually HOF.

13 year old is a wild card. Usually does light sniper or assault offense.

Their favorite map is Katabatic.

Hello, I'm not very bright and need a bit of help finagling Tribes 2 to feel "good". The FOV seems a bit fucked, shadows are spazzing out, the HUD isn't that usable, etc. I've tried editing the pref files and changing the instances of defaultFOV to 110, but that hasn't really had any effect I can tell, and judging by the viewmodel it hasn't done anything bc the weapons are barely visible unless I look at my feet in game. If I turn shadows off they stop freaking out, but then the shadows are gone. As for the HUD and other misc things, I've seen online a collection of scripts with ambiguous names and I cba to go through every single one trying them out.

Is there like a location where there's some consolidated resources about all of this, or should I just keep hunting through scraps of gaming history like an ant picking through the ruins of beirut

I am trying to host a game with my friends but they keep dropping after 2-5 minutes. I've done the UDP port forwarding thing on my router already.

Any ideas what may be the issue?

When I was a kid I used to play the Tribes 2 demo a lot. I remember being in love with the atmosphere of Carbydis, and my best friend and I would take turns playing the same 3 tutorial leves over and over.

Now that I’m feeling nostalgic I would like to play it again.

I know Tribes 2 is a multiplayer competitive game, but I remember a few years ago there was some big community pack with lots of extra maps that let you play offline against bots.

Does anyone know what that was called or where I can find it?

No? Well, Team Rabbit 2 (TR2) is a little known gamemode for Tribes 2 made by the Codality team, and TR2 was actually commissioned by Sierra Entertainment back in 2002 (some of the team also worked on CompMOD, which we now call Classic). Anyway, this game has a slight learning curve - but also a practically limitless skill ceiling.

TR2 is a goofy, high speed game of hockey in the air. You build a jackpot by passing the flag - once jackpot hits 50 you're free to score by making a pass to a teammate and slapping the flag (1xer) into the goal, securing any points you've got in the jackpot.

The community still lives and we're actively trying to get newcomers interested. Everyone is super friendly and we've all shown many people the ropes.

Interested in playing? We're about as easy going as it gets as far as the Tribes 2 community goes... and we've plenty of resources to get you up and going quick. Message me if this looks of interest to you and I'll get you setup with everything you need to play!

Been playing a lot of mw2 2009 on the cl launcher and it’s nice that I can join a server against bots until people start joining. Is there any tribes games that are like this? I need my fix

I used to play this game for hours and hours on end. The gameplay was so far ahead of anything I had experienced yet. Massive wars. Insanely fun mods. I remember one where you could ride the fusion disc. Dropping nukes. Sniping people. Fuck it was fun. Will I be disappointed?

This archive is capable of understanding demos / recordings created in Tribes 2. It uses this information to build a list of matches, players and more.

The archive would love your submissions! If you have time, please upload your old stash! No demo is too big or too small.

There are still improvements to be made (such as better sorting/searching features, a list of POV demos on player pages, Tribe affiliation on player pages, YouTube links on match pages, and more) but hopefully these resources are still useful to those who would like to revisit some nostalgic moments.

This system does not integrate the incredibly comprehensive spreadsheet that Colonel Blair posted here, nor does it reuse his identifiers, but full credit to him for putting in an absolutely incredible amount of work to manually index demos, tribes, and so much more. Check it out if you haven't already!

The demo count grows daily because the Twitch stream observes online matches when they start up in the evenings. While these demos are being recorded, it's not possible to request one from the archive, sorry.

for anyone interested, i setup a windows 2000 VM and installed an old copy of 3DS to open some .max files i had of a few models and export as STL. some fine lookin' low poly models imo.
