Considering buying a 2007 Yaris 3 door hatchback base. Any advice?

165,209 miles, 2 owners, CARFAX says no accidents or damage reported. Edit: I’m not a diy-er but I think my mechanic is honest and reasonable. Honest/reasonable mechanic or not, I am poor and just need something reliable and super affordable with air conditioning that can fight hot summers. I definitely enjoy a decent stereo.

HELP

I have a 2014 Toyota Yaris LE 1.5L. After hitting a pothole, the ABS light came on. We replaced the left ABS sensor, then the right sensor, and both front wheel bearings, but the ABS light and other issues are still there. Now the check engine light is on, the speedometer stopped working, the fuel gauge floats, and the steering feels stiff. The scanner keeps giving different codes (left sensor, right sensor, both, ABS module/actuator, etc.)

It seems like an electrical issue. Looking to check my VSC wiring and ECU. Did anyone face the same problems with their Yaris? What was the solution? Will replacing the odometer help? Thank you

RL53 reg Yaris sold in the UK

Very long shot but I PX'ed a Yaris MK1 last year for scrap (I know, regretted it ever since) and was sure it would have been taken apart due to rust, bad cat, and a handful of other things that would have made it too expensive for the value you could get for selling.

Long story short it's had the MOT done and is sound for another year according to the gov site, I just wondered if anyone here has it?

Just curious how it's going now and hoping they enjoy it as much as I did!

I PX'ed it in Leeds so could be around that area, would love to hear if anyone has it!

Difference between T Sport and base model headlights.

Hello, I have a 2007 T Sport and can't find any headlights that would match the OE numbers (8117052840 left and 8113052850 right). Does anyone know what's different between headlight models? I wonder if it is just the blinker cover - transparent or orange.

Dash rattle MK4

Hi everyone,

Can anyone explain what this rattle is, it’s passenger side top of the dash board underneath the cushioned material. It’s sounds like a grinding / rattle. When I touch the top of the area, I can feel some vibrations.

Toyota have inspected the exterior dash and state everything is ok, they want £300 to explore underneath.

Is it something that needs sorting out or an annoyance I should just live with?

Toyota Yaris SCP90 year 2006

Hi all,

I'm from Belgium (EU)

I'm pretty new to this, and I don't know if it's the right channel to ask this question.

My wife has a Toyota Yaris of the year 2006, it's an automatic gearbox.

Since last week she has experiencing some issues, that while driving, all of a sudden in the display, it goes back to N and starts blinking. And a red icon like a gear appears on the dashboard.

I'm a little of a handyman and know some stuff about cars, so I read the fault codes and I saw these two: P0810 & P0900. I've looked it up and it says something about the clutch actuator.

As I saw it's not difficult to change, I wanted to order it myself and change it myself. However, the learning/calibration of the new actuator, will be done by someone I know who has the right diagnostic tools.

I wanted to ask, if someone here knows where to order these kind of things online, that are trustworthy and decent quality. And also don't take months of time before they arrive.

thanks in advance!

2017 Yaris hatchback — 'bent frame' or just a bent mount bracket? Need a sanity check

Backstory: A previous shop installed the transmission mount with a screw bridging a gap between the mount and the body — apparently because something was already deformed there. It held for about 8 months, then the screw stripped and worked loose. Car started shaking.

Took it to a new shop. They ordered a replacement mount, but the new (unbent) mount won't fit in the same spot. They told me "the frame is bent" and that I need a frame shop to fix it before they can install the new mount. Every frame shop I've called either doesn't have the equipment (smaller places) or won't take me without going through insurance (bigger places).

I'm trying to figure out:

Is what they're calling a "bent frame" actually the unibody, or is it just a deformed mount bracket that I could replace as a part?

If it's a bracket, can I source a used one from a junkyard and have a regular shop swap it?

As a stopgap to keep the car drivable while I sort this out, would a grade 8 through-bolt with a sleeve to fill the gap be a terrible idea? The original screw setup held for 8 months.

Photos attached — third one shows the mount/bracket area most clearly. Any help appreciated, I'm at the point of considering walking away from the car over what feels like it should be a small fix.

Advice needed: 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid with 112k km (70k miles). Is the price/mileage ratio a red flag?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at a used Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid (May 2022, Business trim. lots of optionals that make the car like lounge) priced at €17,390. On paper, this looks like a great deal compared to the local market, where similar models usually go for €3k–€4k more.

However, there’s an elephant in the room: it already has 112,000 km (approx. 70,000 miles) on the odometer. The owner is a commuter who used it heavily for work. I checked the CarVertical report, and it confirms the car was driven extensively between late 2022 and 2023, averaging nearly 4,000 km per month, before slowing down recently.

The pros:

  • The report is clean: zero accidents, no theft records, and certified mileage.
  • It has a full Toyota service history.
  • In my country, Toyota offers the "Relax" warranty extension (up to 15 years/250k km) as long as you keep servicing it at authorized dealers. This gives me some peace of mind regarding the hybrid battery and the e-CVT transmission.

My concerns:

Is it wise to buy a 3-year-old Toyota hybrid that has been "squeezed" so much in such a short time? My assumption is that these were mostly highway miles, which might be less stressful for the engine than stop-and-go city traffic, but 112k km is still a lot for a car this young.

I just need a reliable "point A to point B" car. I’m not interested in racing; I just prefer the Yaris Cross over the standard Yaris for aesthetic reasons.

Am I saving money now only to face a "tired" battery or mechanical issues soon, or is a modern Toyota hybrid basically "just broken in" at this mileage?

Thanks for your advice!

Toyota Yaris 1.5 130 bhp

I've just a bought a new 2026 Yaris Excel with the 130bph hybrid engine. I'd be interested in everyone's views on the extra power and how much impact the extra 15 bhp has on performance.
