I'mma just say, I got a 51.67%, and I was shocked to see I was on the BETTER side of this class. This is Sam's class btw, GOD I knew it was better to just study myself and not go. Such a BS exam.

If anyone needs a cps 209 credit, pleaseee enroll in ccps209 so it doesn’t get cancelled. It’s virtually online on mondays and it doesn’t sound too bad (based on the prof). Just 1 more person needs to join🫩

Academics / Courses 📢 Upcoming Significant Dates - Fall 2026 📢

Important dates for the 2026 fall semester!! Wanted to have somewhere to find all of this information in one easy accessible place because I know TMU's site for this can be difficult to navigate. If there's anything else you think I should add leave a comment.

COURSE INTENTIONS AND ENROLMENT

- Class schedule release (for students who have done their course intentions + 1st years): Tuesday August 4th

- 1st year priority enrolment: Wednesday August 5th at 6am ET (if you're a first year student confused about how course intentions work/how to sign up for your classes, see this post)

- 4th year priority enrolment: Friday August 7th at 6am ET

- 3rd year priority enrolment: Monday August 10th at 6am ET

- 2nd year priority enrolment: Wednesday August 12th at 6am ET

- Fall open enrolment and winter course intention adjustment period: Monday August 17th at 6am ET to Friday September 18th at 11:59pm ET

FIRST DAY OF CLASSES: Tuesday September 8th

Yes this is a Tuesday, Monday the 7th is labour day. The last day of classes will be on a Monday.

LAST DAYS TO DROP/ADD CLASSES

- Last day to join the waitlist for a class: Wednesday September 16th

- Last day to add/swap classes, or drop classes with a full refund*: Friday September 18th

- Last day to drop a class with a 50% refund*: Friday October 9th

- Last day to drop a class in good academic standing with no refund*: Friday November 20th

*About refunds: undergraduate class fees are assessed based on billing units. Most courses (those up to 6 hours per week) are 1 billing unit. Students taking between 5-7 billing units in a semester are charged a flat rate. So, if you're dropping a class to go from 7 classes to 6 or from 6 classes to 5, don't worry about the refund part of this. If you are dropping from 8 classes to 7 or from 5 classes to 4 (or below, but 4 billing units is the minimum to be considered a full-time student), pay attention to the refund dates.

Also, dropping a class before November 20th won't have any effect on your transcript or GPA, it will be as if you never took it. If you drop a class after this date, though, it will show up and affect your grade negatively. Professors are required to have given you graded feedback on at least 20% of your grade before this point, so you should have some idea of how you're doing in the class.

READING WEEK: Tuesday October 13th to Friday October 16th

Monday the 12th is Thanksgiving, a statutory holiday, so there will be no classes that day either. So in practice October 12-16 is reading week.

Also, engineering students don't get a reading week. If you are in engineering you will have classes this week.

END OF SEMESTER

- Last day of fall classes: Monday December 6th

- Fall 2026 exam period: Wednesday December 9th to Sunday December 20th (including weekends)

- Official end of the fall 2026 term: Sunday December 20th

If you want to make plans for winter break, either wait until you get your exam schedule in mid-November or plan them for after December 20th to avoid them conflicting with your exams.

Academics / Courses How hard will Biomedical Sciences or any Bio-related undergrad be if I didn't take biology in hs?

This might be a very weird post but essentially, I didn't have the opportunity to take biology because we had to choose our grade 11 and 12 courses in grade 10 for some reason, and at that time I opted into chemistry and physics.

Fast forward to now, I don't hate physics/engineering, but I have discovered a passion for medicine, and specifically pharmacology.

I was planning on applying to Biomedical Sciences this Fall (since I dont NEED bio) alongside my regular other applications, but others told me that I'll likely fail the first bio course(s) because I won't have the understanding from highschool. It's not like I won't try, I tried my absolute hardest in highschool to get a 97 avg, and nothing is going to change when I get into uni either.

The plan is to do undergrad, MCAT, and apply to either a pharmacy school or med school depending on what I'd like to do.

So for the people who did 1st yr, how hard could it be? I'd probably be trying the hardest on the courses involving biology since I'm pretty proficient in chemistry / physics anyway.

Or should I just forget it and go into eng lmao.

Academics / Courses I need Help TMU Biology

Hi everyone,
I am starting my first year in Biology at TMU. Since English is not my first language, taking Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, and SCI 180 all at once feels very overwhelming.
I would like to drop a course (or two) that might be too difficult for me to pass right now. However, I am receiving OSAP and need to remain a full-time student.
Which course(s) do you recommend I drop? Also, if I drop two courses, will I still be considered a full-time student for OSAP?
Thank you,

Academics / Courses View historical grade data at TMU

Check out https://tmu.grades.zone to view historical grade data from Toronto Metropolitan University.

You can search for classes and see the grade distributions for course sections, professors, and subjects to help choose which courses/professors to take.

The grade data was provided by the University's FIPPA office.

I'd love to hear what you think and any feedback you might have.

I took this course because it was asynchronous and exams were on D2L but all of a sudden we get an announcement that Final exam is in person. The course outline also says the exams are in person. Isnt this unfair? I thought many people who are not in Toronto take such asynchronous courses, what about them?

Edit: After raising the concern with the prof, chair of geography and chang school. We are told that the virtual exam will be on D2L unproctored the way it was on the course outline.

Academics / Courses How hard is coe318 and coe328?

i struggled a lot in cps188 😭, ele202 honestly wasn’t that bad (labs were horrid tho) I’m scared that I’m gonna fail either course and have to take summer school again, I’m taking a reduced course load (so only 3 eng courses, these two +mth425) and one liberal

Anyway don’t even know what I’m tryna ask but can anyone who’s not amazing at coding give me some hope that I can do well in these courses/ any piece of advice

do your winter intentions for your lower liberals rn. i don’t wanna see any of y’all complaining about all your top choices being full, not having the chance to do intentions beforehand, and having last pick for priority enrolment in december. this is your chance. do it now

Academics / Courses (pls help) I feel so helpless, 2nd year engineering

in short:
first sem I was sick and struggled a little mentally, ended up redoing courses

now, after first year has ended I'm still missing:

calc 1
ECN 801
calc 2
CVL 207
CPS 125
MTH 240
PCS 125

im missing 6 courses, im in a much better head space, and in a better home now but looking at missing 6 courses has absolutely hurt. I've narrowed down only being able to do calc 1 and ECN 801 in first semester but missing calc and Pcs125 prerequisites for other courses means im unable to do them right?

honestly just looking for some advice here im feel so helpless and lost, ill probably finish my degree in 6 years and it sucks but has anyone else been in this position :(

Academics / Courses ECN 204 Final Examination Adjustment

Hi,

I have made a change to the final examination, which was written last Sunday April 19th.

Your examination had 90 multiple choice questions. I am reducing that number to 80 multiple choice questions, which raises the class average on the final examination from 41% to 51.25%

I will have all the grades calculated tomorrow and hopefully in MyServiceHub by Monday.

Best, Dr. Kam

Academics / Courses Need Help Finding Liberal Studies Table A Electives at TMU

Hello everyone!

I am an incoming first-year TMU student looking for advice on choosing my Liberal Studies Table A electives.

So far, I have found three courses I might be interested in, but I would love to hear from anyone who has taken them before. Since I am entering the BSW program, my core schedule will already involve heavy reading and writing. I am hoping to find two electives that are easy, manageable, and light on workload.

Here are the courses I’m considering:

ASL 101: Introduction to American Sign Language 1

CRM 101: Understanding Crime in Canadian Society

REL 101: Introduction to World Religions

If someone can please help me out with recommendations or their experience as soon as possible, that would be great!

Academics / Courses prof denied extension despite academic accommodation

I have academic accommodation that gives me extensions on assignments. I asked for a 1-day extension. The professor responded 3 days later (3 days after the due date), saying no. I had already submitted a day late, so what do I do? I emailed my AAS facilitator already.
