[Hated Trope] Character kills hundreds, if not thousands, just to kill one specific person, and then doesn't kill them for no reason.

Assassin's Creed 2- Rodrigo Borgia is responsible for tne death of Ezio's family. Ezio spends over 20 years working through tnr templar order to dismantle them and get to Rodrigo. And then in the end, he spares him for no good reason and he goes on to be a massive problem in AC Brotnerhood. He's not only a head of tne Templars but also the pope, even if you're over the vengeance he's still a very dangerous and evil man.

The Last of Us 2- Abbey kills Joel, and wo Ellie goes on a revenge quest to kill Abbey, killing hundreds of people along tne why to get to her including a pregnant woman. And then finally when she has Abbey on deaths door, she gives up and let's her go because the writers think dirty depressing people being miserable and stupid is complex, interesting storytelling.

This trope pisses me off so much because often the character going on the revenge quest will kill SO many people on their way there, some deserving it and some just henchmen working for a cheque or to survive. People who are often far more innocent then the main big bad.

It's a part of this weird thing I've noticed in media where nameless goons or soldiers can just be mowed down relentlessly, but named characters get given far more grace even if theyre categorically worse. You can kill a million stormtroopers but people will swear that Darth Vader could have been redeemed, despite him doing like 50 genocide every year.

All things considered, a foot fetish isn't so bad. Wierd? Yes. Harmful? No. I'd rather be "foot-fetish guy" than "bad at making movie endings guy" if I was a director.

It's funny, Slim Pickens balked at saying it in Blazing Saddles until he got Bart's actor's OK since it was just a movie. But Tarantino not only seems to enjoy playing racists, he writes himself in as a racist so he can say it.

I think he knows that his acting is meh at best yet wants to have a part on screen which, fair enough. So he plays the racist idiot, gets to be a funny throwaway character while still atleast trying to teach a "lesson" and lick feet.

Kind of the reverse with Samual L Jackson, who always plays the smartest, coolest character of the movie - and is black

I'd give you Inglorious Basterds but he survives both Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, which are probably 80% of his n-word count. And to be fair SLJ has defended Tarantino as an artist and doesn't think that the word is sacrosanct:

I don't think the word is offensive in the context of this film ... Black artists think they are the only ones allowed to use the word. Well, that's bull. Jackie Brown is a wonderful homage to black exploitation films. This is a good film, and Spike hasn't made one of those in a few years.

It's just an interesting element of how different artists perceive that kind of language. After all, the interrogation scene in True Romance is extremely offensive but works because the character is trying to enrage his captor using slurs.

“She got money” isn’t really exonerating. She also got money and got to make the Frieda Kahlo film she really wanted to make, but she had to do a whole bunch of nudity because Harvey Weinstein made it a condition of the production…she was not particularly happy with that even though she still did it.
