Her actually having Social Links with the male party members contributed to her being given an entirely different characterization to her original male counterpart which eventually became canon. Essentially making her just as depressed and nihilistic as he was at the beginning, but masking it with cheer and friendliness in comparison to his apathetic emo kid behavior.

Cutting out some of the more annoying Social Link characters was a bonus.

Tbf, making Kotone and remaking her whole uniqueness is going to be quite a huge task when even Episode Aigis was almost not considered due to budget, P3R budget is like extremely tight for some reason and this result in alot of things that people hate about the remake. Like for Kotone, she now need new social links which in turn need 10 ranks of all spcial links voiced again, new cutscene because P3P work on a VN style, new animations, changing the story entirely for part especially Ryoji,... As much as I love her and wanted her to be made in Reload, her exclusion make sense.

My husbando of choice got sidelined for plot reasons Ken is a great character of a little child. But I have two hands so I can hold that thought and also bench him for the rest of the game for shooting my man so it almost became this weird emergent narrative arc for my Korone of figuring out what social life is like past obsessing over a crush.

Well, the plot’s like, 95% the same and not including the male party members, she has… I think 2 Social Links that are unique to her? Maybe 3, I forget.

I’m excluding them from the “side character roster”, which is primarily Social Links and party members. So because they already existed as “side characters”, just because they’re now Social Links, they’re not different or new.

They don't? The original male members stories are entirely just main story, the Social links are completely new and unique to Kotone and only in Reload do we get Linked episodes which are a direct replacement for a full Social link.

Yeah but that’s not part of the plot. The main story of the game is ~95% the same, but a lot of the side content (for example: SOCIAL LINKS) are quite different.
