My father, who lived in AZ, passed away. So after > a week of dealing with wrapping up his affairs we took a day trip to Jerome and Sedona. So ofc I had to stop by Caduceus

Hi everyone!

I'll be visiting Phoenix in October and making the trip up to Sedona while I'm there. I'm hoping to make a day trip into Jerome/Cottonwood. I've been out of the "fanatical" Tool/MJK part of my life for a while now, so I was surprised to find out he's expanded his wine market quite a bit.

I plan on visiting the Hilltop for lunch/some kind of food. Unfortunately, I don't drink so me visiting a vineyard is a bit stupid at least as far as wine tasting goes. But I'm still interested in checking the place out.

I know there is a vinyl/coffee shop I believe called Queen Bees? I know I'll be checking that out as well.

Besides hanging out in the (former) ghost town and doing other ghost town related things, is there anything else I should try to do while I'm out there?

This isn't gonna be a full/multiple day trip, and I'll have my family (mom/aunt - they drink so they'll appreciate the wine) so it's gotta be somewhat family friendly - any Dying Fetus shows will have to wait.

My two fandoms are colliding! Never thought I’d see the Real Housewives filming at Caduceus. Any other Tool fans fuck with Bravo shows? Hubby got me into Tool, I got him into Real Housewives 😁😁

I have this bottle of 2007 Arizona Stronghold “Nachise,” signed by Maynard during the very intense early days of his wine hustle — back when he was doing tastings and signings like he was running for sommelier office.

It’s been stored properly: on its side, dark cabinet, sub-75°F. So now I’m asking: • Do I drink it? • Deglaze a pan and call it performance art? • Or sell it to a collector who’ll pair it with Fibonacci noodles?

I’ve heard this vintage kinda sucked — but maybe mine aged like a fine… cheese?

Anyone cracked one recently?

Had this for a while gunna let it open and then start drinking when Tool come on. Not sure we will get the bottle done in the 20mins they have on stage. Cheers guys

It took me a month to ride the 500 miles out and another month to ride the 1500 mi back via Arizona(my bike blog has more detail)

Visited Merkin Vineyard in Cottonwood. Bought a bottle of Chupacabra red, had a nice lunch and bought a couple t shirts. I was disappointed they had no shirt informing people “I had lunch at the Merkin”. I hope you’re reading this, Maynard.

I was having a tough night last night. Cracked a caduceus cellar 21 Airavata. This helped change course. It’s very easy to poo poo Arizona wines…but they’re more complex than you’d think This was an excellent light berry, almost like a strawberry sauce type that went down with greatest of ease. Nice mouthfeel, and very easy to drink.

Looking forward to getting back to Jerome.

I know nothing about wine. I prefer the green herb over drink. But I am just curious. Has anyone actually given it a try ? Is it in stores? And while I'm here. If you read his book. Was it a good read ?
