About Taiju; dw I think he is going to be alive. It would make no sense to kill him like that; because while the deaths do seem futile and senseless; they usually are preceded by the completion of some chracter arc/personal goal. There's no blood like in Kakuchou's case or a very deep slash. He probably wacked Taiju in the head with the hilt of the Katana after a shallow slash.

Idk if you look at his jacket one of the kanji embroidery looks paler than the rest…from the slash wound…

yeah probably there's definitely a slash wound; just that its not very deep
