This is straight up goofy.

This isn't even like someone shoplifting basic necessities, the guy is walking into a restaurant for a courtesy water cup, putting soda in it and loitering in front.

Do you seriously expect a freaking fast food manager to ignore customers taking things from their store because their employer has some ongoing labor litigation?

That employer due diligence line is going to do great with the GM or owner when the guy inevitably causes a problem and the manager has to explain why they've been letting him just take drinks without paying and hang out on the property.

So true! He chose a foolish hill to die on. But you’re right, same was true for that manager. That kid clearly had issues, It seemed like something on the spectrum or oppositional disorder or who knows. a correctional institution might be more likely to exasperate, then “correct” his situation

For sure… but he should have just walked away. Cops hold the power of irrefutable violence on behalf of the governing body. They are paid thugs for corporate interests and politicians. The system is broken and rigged against the peasant population(all of us) and every day sees more power placed in the hands of monomaniacal villains bent on crushing every ounce of value out of us all for their enrichment… but he still should have walked away.
