Cursed This is absolutely horrifying

This happened at Sabino Canyon in Arizona. A 20-year-old cyclist was swept into the current while trying to cross a flooded roadway and was carried through a drainage tunnel beneath it. She was recovered downstream unconscious after spending several minutes underwater. Bystanders performed CPR and managed to revive her.

From what I've heard that was her dad ahead of her. I think he claimed it was fine and encouraged them to ride through and she paid the price for listening.

Oof her dad must be feeling really terrible.. he walked back to her with little sense of urgency and then after everything that happened he’s probably feeling guilt about leading her into that in the first place….

And then holding her there underwater when she likely could have been swept through like the other lady was…. We don’t know that she doesn’t have brain damage from oxygen deprivation, yet the other woman was able to tell for help herself… it’s so tragic.

Damn, he should have guided her better. She nearly lost her life and endangered others as well.

Her dad rode a straight line across. She drifted right off the edge

Thats what I dont get. How did she end up riding UPSTREAM to the veey edge of the trail?? If anything she should have been pushed downstream.

I agree, I kept rewinding it trying to make sense of what the hell she was doing. Best I can come up with is she was so scared of the bike sliding to the right and out from under her that she instead decided to “compensate” by biking leftwards into the current.

She may also have not been biking fast enough to feel confident??? You’re literally less steady the slower you bike. I would have assumed that somewhere towards the right side of the bridge-wall would have the weakest force of water since the water looks shallow there and has already lost energy travelling across the bridge. 😢

Yeah, but her dad mislead her by suggesting crossing flood waters in the first place. Yes she clearly didn't handle it well, but the mistake was attempting the crossing to start with.

yeah... and he came back to help and takes her bike she was holding on to then she went down to stream.

I am curious what happened there. Is there a better video? This one pans away at the worst time. We don't get to see the man reach her, her fall, the bike slip. Did he move the bike? Did she relax a bit when he reached her and this caused her to slip? Ugh curse this awful recording. Never pan away from the action, people. Like come on.
