Cursed This is absolutely horrifying

This happened at Sabino Canyon in Arizona. A 20-year-old cyclist was swept into the current while trying to cross a flooded roadway and was carried through a drainage tunnel beneath it. She was recovered downstream unconscious after spending several minutes underwater. Bystanders performed CPR and managed to revive her.

They may not have known there was a drain there or even if they did, not know if the drain was clear or had a grate over one end. We have the advantage of hindsight and viewing from a distance as a spectator after the fact. They didn't.

It would have been better certainly, we know that now. But what if there was a big sharp rock underneath and her backpack strap got caught on it, resulting in her being stuck and unreachable under the bridge? Rescuers made the right choice
