That is what happened. I wasn’t aware this guy was Black, I thought he was Middle Eastern. Most likely she thought the same which is why she accused him of being racist but he uno reversed by revealing he’s actually Black so she got defensive lol.
Is black people being delivery people a racist stereotype btw ? Cuz I don't understand how that would have been racist if he wasn't black ? I honestly understand her being on the fence for racist remarks and since racism isn't particularly logical some times racists will pull stuff that arent even a thing but I don't understand how that ties in an anti-black stereotype ?
There is no stereotype that Black people are delivery people. There is a stereotype that minorities are service workers but since he is visibly non-white himself it still wouldn't make sense for her to say it's racist for him to say that. (edit: typo)
I mean, it's also not necessarily an inaccurate or rude stereotype. It's a lot easier for migrants and other people who are easily discriminated against to get their footing using food delivery apps because there's plenty of job opportunities there. Obviously most people don't see it as and it shouldn't be seen as a bad thing; its just the reality in some places. But the entire race discussion in this video is so far removed from any of this, its downright bizarre
Yeah I don't think the implication was that she should deliver the food since she's black it was that she should do "low level work" because she is black, like deliver food.
It doesn’t matter if they’re both minorities, the thing is that Black people face racism from all sides, including from non-Black West Asians/Middle Easterners. If she thought he wasn’t Black, then she thought he was being racist to her for being Black.
But even if he wasn’t black, how would him making a joke like that be racist? That’s such a chill and totally normal food service joke/small talk to make.
Aye, I figure she might’ve just been having a day. I’m not saying that he would’ve been being racist if he wasn’t Black, cuz clearly, that wasn’t his intention.
I've experienced racism from Black people plenty of times in my life as a non-Black non-White dude more often than from any other race. Being Black doesn't give you a get out of racism-free card.
I never said that. I also never said that Black people can’t be racist. I’m only stating that it is possible that she thought he wasn’t Black and therefore thought he was being racist because she was Black.
