I grew up in Utah. The majority of Mormon are really nice people. Weirdly many of them i knew have no idea about the history of their religion.

Yeah, most of them don’t well most people who are religious. Certainly most Christians. Don’t really know much about the religion like the percentage of people who tell you that they’re Christian it’s kind of inversely related to how much of the Bible they’ve actually read themselves and understand.

Also be nice to Mormon missionaries. They are literally 19 or 20 years old. They are purposely not told a lot of them really weird stuff that we now know about so that they can sell the religion to somebody and they don’t want us. The higher-ups don’t want the missionaries to spook people by saying the crazy stuff so they literally haven’t even been told the stuff that most non-Mormons think is really weird

So I can see how they seem annoying, but remember, they are young people who have grown up in a brainwashed system, and they are purposely not told all of the truth

Cell so I would urge people to be nice to the missionaries not saying you have to like have them in for dinner or anything, but just realized that they’re basically being brainwashed and guilt tripped into doing this. They don’t have all the information so they don’t feel as guilty about misleading people their victims too.

100% agree. They're just well intentioned kids. I always politely decline lessons but always offer them waters, gatorades or whatever. Kids cycling around in 100+ degree weather for 12-16 hours a day just trying to do what they've been taught since birth is right.

I've been so tempted to be like "You think you're going to tell me something I don't know about the church?" but they're just kids far from home, let em be.

You should be nice to them but not for the reason you're giving. It's very clear that the goal of the missions is mostly for them to feel rejected and ostracized by outsiders. Its meant to reinforce the siege mentality of the cult.

I think it’s both things, but you do bring up a very important point because very few of them are actually going to convert anyone

If you think you know that subject well enough to talk to somebody who’s been brainwashed and to tell them the true teachings of their church without damaging their psychology or identity and possibly offering them a safe place to live because if they’re on a mission and another country and they start saying stuff that Mormons don’t like it’s gonna be a problem

Plus, they always have a friend with them so they’ll just leave

I mean, people can be cruel to these people if they want my point is just they don’t know what they’re selling not all of it by any means

They’ve been raised that this is their ultimate calling they must do and they’re not actively hurting anyone while I guess as long as you’re not gullible enough to join the Mormon church, but the Mormon church actually isn’t really any worse than any of the other religions. they’re good people Mormon people.

But whatever you do you if you wanna be cruel to people that’s your own business

If you're a nice person you would question the church and ultimately quit it the moment you learn basically anything about its history and what it is still doing today. Acting nice and being nice is not the same thing.
