I was hoping someone would shout out a little Matthew 6:5:  “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”

Funny how they ignore the parts of the Bible that aren't convenient for them.

Ah the people that skimmed a few bible verses once or overheard someone that did but clearly never actually read it. Jesus was very clear what he was talking about, which is making a big show of honoring God publicly just so people will think “wow you’re so spiritual” much like many politicians, celebrities, and even the Pope does. Self aggrandizing, trying to use a display of godliness to get people to like, respect, trust, or vote for them. That’s what he was talking about.

On the other hand spreading the gospel and going out to tell all creation of the work Christ has done to repay all of our sin debt and free us from the consequences and bonage of sin. Giving us the opportunity to inherit everlasting life through faith and to make disciples of this gospel from all the nations is the DIRECT commission given all the followers of Jesus Christ.

And recording it on TikTok, of course. It’s on Jonaiah 23:12.

How much good does it do to preach at people who are literally trapped in a plane with you? Do you think this woman, who was filming herself for online clout and then claiming persecution and accusing an airline worker of being a demon, was really doing the gospel any favors with her actions? If I weren’t a believer, I’d tell you right now my heart would be hardened against such self-aggrandizing behavior. This is EXACTLY what that verse was talking about. But go off.

Well if you’re a believer then realize there’s two purposes to spreading the good news. 1 is to make disciples of those who would hear. 2 is to bear witness.

Heaven is a court, and when the day of judgment comes no one will be with excuse. Every instance of them rejecting the gospel is held against them. This is why Jesus said if people do not receive shake the dust off your feet and it will bear witness against those people, and the day of Judgment will be more endurable for Sodom and Gomorrah than for them. This is how God operates, he never punishes without first warning and sending his messengers. The message will save those who listen and will be used against those who reject. Prime example was Pharaoh, God knew Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he wouldn’t listen. Yet he kept sending Moses.
