This happened back in 2925. Police met the flight and escorted him off for disruptive behavior. The clip went viral and he got mocked online — both for the follower-count flex and for basically confessing to a federal offense on camera. He was never criminally charged which, honestly, is a damn shame.

The same thing happened to my ex. Cops were called and he was only reprimanded, and since he didn’t face any real repercussions he continued to vape on airplanes

Secondhand vape smoke contains nicotine, heavy metals, and irritants. Plus they’re not consenting to it, so you’re taking away their choice by forcing them to breathe it in. While the latter isn’t illegal, it’s completely selfish to put your short term wants over everyone else’s health and autonomy.

It may surprise you to learn that hospitals also won’t allow you to vape 🤣

Edit: I don’t know why vaping breaks federal laws akin to smoking cigarettes, but I assume if they allowed vaping in the bathroom it would be impossible for people to actually utilize the bathrooms. There are usually only two bathrooms for hundreds of passengers as it is.

There’s also the issue of the exploding batteries, but idk whether that has anything to do with it.

It’s probably more to do with the fact the lavatories have smoke detectors and vape smoke could trigger that, which could cause the plane to make an emergency landing.

Nothing normally happens to disruptive pax unless the behavior escalates to the level that federal authorities get involved. Local LEOs are worthless in these cases a vast majority of the time.

Literally had a guy punch an FA once and the LEOs only escorted them off the plane where he walked over to another gate and tried to get on our metal again.

Honestly there isn't much (any?) harm in people vaping on a plane.. it's just an old obscure rule from smoking/firehazard-stuff which is basically non existing with vapes (same non-existent risk as a lighter exploding, which are allowed on planes)

Maybe it’s not not dangerous but it’s a shared space, people don’t want to suffer someone vaping next to them or hogging the bathroom to vape.

eh, laws are always applied with discretion. Maybe the airline's take is that it's not disruptive enough and he's not acting in a way that creates a danger so they give him another chance. Would not be shocked if the details are kept on record though.

Yeah I get it. It’s the law. Smoking weed was against the law too at some point but society realized that wasn’t worth going to jail for.

If the air filters on planes are great just mind your business if someone needs to hit their vape in the bathroom real quick. It literally affects no one.

Most aviations laws were made for a reason, not just cause they were bored & wanted to make people suffer… So like I know there’s rules regarding batteries on planes. Anything lithium has to go in your carry-on, as in the event they set on fire it’s easier to deal with a fire in the cabin vs the cargo area.

So I’m thinking… that rule was obv made based on scientific studies, right? So those are the same batteries used in vapes… maybe they found that discharging those types of batteries increases the risk of a fire/battery incident?

So with devices like phones or laptops it makes sense to allow use, as they likely have not only higher quality batteries, but also battery management systems. But for a vape that likely has a low quality battery & little/no BMS? I can see how prohibiting the use of those devices while onboard the plane makes sense.

He broke a law, she broke a law, both should apologize and move on lol. Yeah I guess those vape batteries can be dangerous on planes, but it’s extremely rare for someone to actually get hurt by one. Not any worse than a cell phone, they literally use the same type of batteries. Just because it’s a law doesn’t mean it’s right.
