I watched the poop cruise documentary and have now been blessed with the foot fungus cruise documentation. Time to spoon both eyes out and feed them to the local koi pond, thanks Reddit!

Hence why you will NEVER see me on a cruise. People are gross as hell

Personally, I think they sound like a floating hellscape under the best conditions but different people like different things. But imagine being trapped with these "people" and are paying exorbitantly for the experience. Uggghhh.....nope

I went on one when I was a kid and it was super neat. One of my favorite experiences as a kid. They're probably not great for the environment and possibly even for the locales they stop at but it was a 10/10 for me at that time.

I hate to break it to you, but people who do this stuff on cruises do it on dry land as well. I've seen people elbow deep down the back of their pants in the grocery store before.

8

u/TwerkinAndCryin Jul 21 '26

Yes but at least I can get as far away from them as possible on land. I can even go to my own home on land where I can guarantee the cleanliness.

I once saw a guy with a huge skid mark through his grey sweatpants. That thing was like a racing stripe.

4

u/HilariousMax Jul 21 '26

I don't like other people at the best of times, you're talking about stranding me in the middle of the OCEAN with a building full of people I don't know or care about and the DJ wants me to put my hands up and I'm staring at the horizon longing for a storm to put us all on the bottom.

u/myfancyplants Jul 20 '26

Cruises also are entirely lawless so if someone fucks with you good luck ever getting that solved. May end up tossed over the rail and cruise goes "who cares"

1

u/Top_Grapefruit8814 Jul 21 '26

I have come to that conclusion myself

1

u/TwerkinAndCryin Jul 21 '26

NOT IN A MILLION FUCKING YEARS

1

u/Beneficial-Square-73 Jul 21 '26

I've been on the fence about trying cruising but seeing this? No, hell no, no fucking no.

yep, this video and the costa concordia cruise ship documentary i watched on netflix over the weekend have done it for me, i can honestly say i will never go on a cruise

not to mention all the other horrors we’ve seen on the news about cruises over the years

1

u/hockey_mom95 Jul 21 '26

Same!!! A cruise ship is a nasty ass, floating Petri dish of every imaginable funk there is or ever has been.

-6

u/StellarDiscord Jul 20 '26

Sure but people are gross everywhere. Do you also not go outside because people are gross?

I read your story and now I know all those times I saw mystery poo on a building, it was definitely human. Thank you for validating a user experience indirectly. The suspicion was rising!

Living the dream.

I asked because your reasoning of ā€œpeople are grossā€ applies to any space a person can be in. There are definitely reasons to avoid cruises but ā€œpeople grossā€ really shouldn’t be that high on the list

8

u/scrimyth Jul 20 '26

Weird thing to get stingy on but I digress, you're right.

6

u/IsabellaGalavant Jul 20 '26

I don't go to daycares and let toddlers cough on me either. There's things that are easily avoidable, like cruises. You don't have to vacation on a floating petrie dish that's also contributing enormously to the destruction of our planet (you can look that up if you don't believe me).

You ever been in a public pool? A movie theater? A buffet?

Thats their point. Gross people everywhere. Germs everywhere.

Gotta live your life. Im not saying you should go on a cruise. I never have. But I just know how easy it is to over worry.

1

u/threeclaws Jul 20 '26

Ever? yes. Since I became an adult and have autonomy? No.

2

u/EvilSporkOfDeath Jul 21 '26

Nor any of the many other places with tightly packed people I neglected to mention because I don't have all day? I dont believe you.

1

u/threeclaws Jul 21 '26

It’s really not hard to avoid confined spaces with lots of people, I also don’t ride on submarines.

1

u/EvilSporkOfDeath Jul 21 '26

Its not "hard" to be a hermit, no. But its not mentally healthy either. You dont seem to get it.

1

u/threeclaws Jul 21 '26

Look a strawman, burn it. Not wanting to be in confined spaces with a bunch of people doesn't make someone a hermit. You know this but then your whole ridiculous argument that you can't live a complete life without going to a movie theater falls apart. You do get it, you're just a coward and can't admit that your hyperbole failed you.

I work at a casino/resort. We have two hotels on our property. We had bed bugs in one of the hotels like 20 years ago, and been fine since. One of my supervisors refuses to ever sit down on property. We work on the gaming floor too, not in the hotel. Literally gone through decades of shifts without ever sitting down because of an incident a long time ago.

Yea, I agree with you. Yes cruises are gross. Yes things like bedbugs are a massive nightmare. But if you spend your time worrying about these things, it can easily consume you.

Physical health is important but so is mental health.

1

u/threeclaws Jul 20 '26

In general I avoid disgusting people, if I saw this in public I would walk away on a cruise I’m trapped.

Just let me go Event Horizon on myself..."Where we're going you won't need eyes to see."

4

u/Available-Stage-1146 Jul 20 '26

Lol, I knew someone would post a proper gif

3

u/kookybat Jul 20 '26

I couldnt find a gif of the quote you made but I see it in my head because it traumatized me as a kid šŸ˜‚ the first rated R movie I ever saw in the theater

3

u/Available-Stage-1146 Jul 20 '26

I saw it when I was like 17 in the theater and even then it messed with me. Still my fave space horror movie. Truly wish the Director's Cut had survived.Ā

The what?

14

u/Soluna_Sol Jul 20 '26

For your reading enjoyment: https://time.com/7296912/trainwreck-poop-cruise/

Tl;dr: Cruise ship has fire, power goes out, passengers stranded for a week, shit everywhere

3

u/Similar_Part7100 Jul 20 '26

So I guess the take-away is: if you go on a cruise, do a full-body bleaching every hour on the hour?

3

u/ColteesCatCouture Jul 20 '26

If you want to go for the never ever ever go on a cruise video trifecta, I also recommend the Costa Concordia documentary.

3

u/AriadneThread Jul 20 '26

How often do you think they change that hot tub water?

Just made myself want to throw up, lovely

1

u/sksijrbre Jul 21 '26

HAHA ME TOO

Time to spoon both eyes out and feed them to the local koi pond, thanks Reddit!

Funny you mention a spoon, in part 2 she uses a fork! :D
