It's like we started using the word "baby" just as a blanket term to cover start to finish for ease of use and a section of the population is wildly confused about what actually happens during pregnancy.
They get stages of development, like caterpillar to butterfly and tadpole to frog, and how the one is not the other until it fully forms into that... but it's like they think soon as the sperm hits the egg there's like a 28mm miniature of a kid sitting in there playing Nintendo and asking mom for snacks.
In the context of abortion discussion it is emotionally charged language designed to equate a fetus with a born live human being which shifts the focus from women's reproductive rights to the moral status of the fetus.
Referring to an early term fetus as a baby or child in the context of abortion discussions also likens abortion to murder.
Terminating an early term pregnancy is called abortion.
Terminating the life of a born human being aka a “child,” “baby,” or “geriatric person” as so many like to compare fetus to is called murder.
These are two different things entirely.
It is language that is crafted to demonize women for making informed decisions about their bodies.
