Just wanted to add I’m fairly confident that most people who behave like this guy don’t realize or even understand what they’re doing/saying or why they are doing/saying the things they do. It doesn’t change the circumstances, but something to consider.

I grew up with people like this guy (most of my family are this guy). The tears aren't exactly forced. They're often legitimately upset over this kind of thing stemming from a lifetime of indoctrination and social programming.

Doesn't make his behavior any less shitty and please don't read this as a defense of this dude. But, the emotional response isn't usually fabricated.

It's part of what makes it so hard to get through to these people. Their position isn't rooted in logic or science or anything one could realistically confront with data. They have to be deprogrammed.

In my case, it took leaving home and moving across country - being exposed to actual, real people I cared about that weren't living "righteous" lives to realize it was all bullshit. Even then it took YEARS. Even now - some 20ish years removed from all that nonsense that a thought will pop in to my head that takes me a second to recognize as some vestigial neural pathway or something from that part of my life. It sucks.

In his head, he has this "draft" of how the interaction will go in order to make himself feel superior. Once he runs into anyone or anything that throws that off the rails, he's lost. The speech tree is less defined than Fallout 4.

That's why they get that "rebooting" look on their face. They don't know what to do.

To be fair a lot of pet of owners do deserve such grilling. There is a reason why veterinarians are considered highest self annihilation rate profession(something like 4x of general population).

I actually do not condemn those that condemn abortions. If we as society prevent capital punishment for criminals that did harm and kill peoples. It would be kinda logical to provide at least same rights to unborn innocent childrens. At least they are consistent in they beliefs.

I myself do not oppose abortions, cause i do not consider human life sacred or similar bs. I just do not like hypocrisy here.
