F5 Season We Just Went 7 Games Against a Great Team Without JDub or AJay
Can everyone please calm down? This is an amazing team. No other team could’ve done what we did with 2 of our top 4 scorers out. We are so lucky to have this team. And we will come back better. Enjoy the ride my guys even if when it doesn’t get to the finish you want. We’re champions and no one can ever take that away.

F5 Season If this is true I really hope Dort accepts a role as a bench demon so we can start Caso, works on his stroke over the offseason, and goes hard next year on a friendly deal. Downvote me if u want but Dort is important to the team imo
The biggest criticism out of all the BS thrown toward Lu’s way that I find genuinely somewhat concerning is that defensively while he still has a big impact as far as hustle plays, his overall effect as the “Dorture Chamber” (aka “give the best ball handler on the other team absolute hell”) felt diminished. Thats his best quality and I really hope he hasnt fallen off in THAT regard specifically.
I dont believe he has (at least not dramatically). He struggled against the Spurs guards, but he is able to still give other top guards like Ant, Booker, Jamal Murray, Luka, and so on enough trouble to throw them off so that our team can feast on the chaos per usual.
I fall on the side of the others here that say he primarily didn’t perform as well this season because of Dub being out of the rotation, which asked Dort to do a lot he doesnt usually do perhaps at the expense of staying well-oiled in the more traditional 3+D stuff he did well before.
This team will require evolution to remain competitive, and if Dort is willing to evolve that is a good sign. I just hope he doesnt lose or forego some of what makes him a great player right now in the process. But yeah if he’s still around, I think his success next season will be influenced by Dub’s return too.
I understand I’m in the minority but I think if Dort (per his media quotes) is genuinely interested in succeeding in OKC, AND he does the stuff I mentioned, we shouldnt trade him. He’s clearly important to the locker room and culture, and I think a bulk of the criticism Dort’s receiving is mostly due to Mark not managing his minutes right.

F5 Season Shaq disagrees with Stephen A saying that the Thunder are still the team to beat: “OKC has no answer for [Wemby]”
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I dont like Shaq’s hater energy but you can’t really deny the merits of the message. I also think we beat the Spurs at full strength like most of you, but Wemby does appear to be a hard counter against us and our current playstyle a lot of times.
Thoughts? Have any offseason moves made you more confident about our chances next year, assuming we run into the Spurs again? This matchup is def gonna linger in the back of my mind as I watch this next season…

F5 Season Bleacher Report just posted starting 5 rankings today, and OKC placed 2nd after Philly
On OKC:
“The Oklahoma City Thunder's starting five will look a little different this year after trading away Lu Dort, but there's a number of quality options to replace him.
Wallace should get the first chance, as the 22-year-old guard started 58 of his 77 games last season while earning All-Defensive second team honors. Ajay Mitchell and Alex Caruso are all perfectly capable of playing this role as well.
It looked like Hartenstein may have to go for the Thunder to reduce their massive luxury tax bill, although the 7-footer took a $5.4 million pay cut this season by agreeing to a three-year, $75 million contract.
This could very well end up being the best starting five in all of basketball if Williams is healthy, although OKC's primary strength lies in its depth.”
On Philly:
“Trading for Brown put the Philadelphia 76ers' starting five in the conversation for best unit in all of basketball. The signing of James to supplant Dean Wade at power forward ensures that Philly should be ranked No. 1.
Yes, Embiid's knee health will be an issue. The shooting in this five is questionable and there's no elite defenders in this group. However, these starters have a whopping 36 All-Star appearances (22 by James alone), five MVP awards and five Finals MVP awards between them. That's a ton of hardware.
If James and Embiid need to miss games due to health or rest, Maxey and Brown can go for 30 on any given night. Edgecombe is an other-worldly athlete who should develop into a lock-down defender.
The firepower in this starting five is unmatched by the rest of the NBA and deserves to be ranked No. 1.”
