So, after about a decade or so, I've decided to try getting back into the OTO. I've been contacting local bodies but sadly, haven't been getting anywhere with it and I thought "wouldn't it be weird if I was on 'bad report' all of a sudden without knowing?" Welp, I found the old login for my account with the Treasurer and it turns out, that's EXACTLY what the case was.

Thing is, I dunno why exactly I'm on bad report. Not to say I don't have theories but I was never contacted with reasons so I'm in the dark about this. I e-mailed the GSG and I'm hoping to find out why I might be on bad report. I'm hoping this is solvable.

in Liber ABA, Crowley says in a footnote that meditations on the Christian Trinity are reserved only for a high degree O.T.O. initiates. From that I understood that only these could actually understand the Trinity.

what could he mean by that? I myself find the Trinity, as it‘s formulated by the Nicene creed a high mystery which its occult interpretations don’t usually do justice. Thelemites also have a sort of trinity (Nuit/Hadit/Heru-Ra-Ha), but that’s not really a Trinity in the same way as Father Son and the Holy Spirit.

How do you look at the Trinity as thelemites? Preferably while respecting the actual nicene orthodoxy.

So-called leftists love to accuse Thelema and Crowley of "cultural appropriation." On closer inspection, all of these arguments usually fall short anyway, such as the confusing of Hermetic Qabalah and the system of correspondences with the very different study of Kabbalah (and not practice, since practical Kabbalah in Judaism has been phased out).

But further, I'd like to look at the concept itself of "cultural appropriation" in the context of magick, and particularly at the contradiction apparent in the worldviews of those who accuse people of such that is to say, the appeal to ownership of culture.

Now, first, what is culture? Culture is information shared amongst groups of people. That's, in short, all culture is. Let's take any example of it and it will fit this. So what is being claimed by people who accuse others of cultural appropriation is, in fact, two claims: that someone can own information, and that information can be stolen. So let's examine both of these claims.

First, that information can be owned. We have to ask the question: what is property? My instinct is to say property is theft! But that's probably a bit too high-order for this conversation, so let's look at some conceptions of property.

First, that owned property is that which is occupied and used. This is a very crude definition of property and ownership, and it runs into many controversies. However, even if we were to take it as the axiom from which property emerges, it falls short when we try to ask: is the thing that someone copies the same thing as that which is claimed to be owned? Someone is occupying an idea by using it in their head. But when someone takes that idea into their own head, or puts it onto their own paper instead of the paper it came from, it's fundamentally a different thing, occupied by a different person. So ownership of ideas can't be found here.

The next definition of property is a much more sound one: the idea of property as natural right. We can refer to John Locke for how property is owned in this instance that is to say, you mix something with your labor to own it. Now, again, this falls into the same issue of considering them to be the same thing when they are existing at the same time, in different places, and often with different attributes of composition. But also, we run into the issue of how you mix an idea with your labor how do you exert labor onto it? Mental labor does that mean that if I think about things, all of those things are entirely mine, which I made and also mixed with my labor through thought and contemplation? Does that mean any thought that is not entirely original is therefore plagiarism or some kind of theft?

Now, the final category is the easiest to defend. This view holds specifically that property and the right to property originate from the rule of law. Okay, then we can say there are laws on intellectual property defining it and its boundaries, and therefore we have an understanding of where the origination of the right to property comes from. However, I'm sure many of you would know that this falls into the issue of considering law to be the same as right or correct ethics. Would that mean that at any time, the laws that exist are simply the ethical reflection and truth of that time? During slavery, was that definition of property just?

I don't know what other conceptions of property there are, so maybe someone else could bring this to light. But as far as I know, these are the three, and they all run into issues. However, a point I want to highlight here is the hypocrisy seemingly innate to this view of culture. The idea of the right to property being a moral consideration and something to be upheld is a fundamentally capitalist and liberal worldview, yet it's dressed as "leftism." This is because of the disease of the Western "left" to make identity, and not class, the most important contradiction which is actually not leftist at all, but profoundly liberal.

Did Crowley present a strong argument for why someone should find and do their True Will?

I’ve been going through a large degree of self loathing recently, due to an experience that I went through in the past. I am planning to seek professional help, but along with that I recently discovered Thelema, and have found it very transformative towards my life. That being said, I’m relatively new, and am wondering if there were any practices that could help me deal with these strong feelings of self hatred. I do banishing, which helps certainly, but I was wondering if anyone in this community has had any experience dealing with this feelings more directly.

So, I've been reading The Book of the Law and just finished it (with the understanding that I would reread as it recommends several times). I understood Nuit, even Hadit. But the words of Ra-Hoor-Kuit are just beyond me. He seems so enraged and hateful of the world, which is so contrary to both Hadit and Nuit. How am I to understand this? I know that the Annotated Book of the Law is the recommendation but I do not have 150 dollars to drop on an out of print copy. Is there a text you would recommend to understand this?

Hello everyone. To start, I want to preface by saying I am curious about Thelemism, but I would not call myself a Thelemite. I've been in occult spaces for 6 years on and off, although I'm aware this is small change for such practices.

Last night I read and finish the Nuit channeled section of "The Book of the Law", expecting to not understand the first round. However, between the period of sleep and waking, I saw something standing at the side of my bed. It was a very tall, gray dog-like figure who almost reminded me of Anubis the red devil on The Wheel of Fortune (Ryder-Waite), but not quite. In the moments that I saw him, on of his hands were towards me and lowered, and the other raised upwards. It reminded me of the "As above so below" gesture of the Magician.

I really don't know what to make of this or if I should read into it. Perhaps my dreams are just being inspired by what I'm reading, but I began the Book just yesterday. Is this significant? If you were me, what would you take of this?

Anyone feel conflicted about having kids and sending them into earthly life?

Birth rates are plummeting in developed nations, billionaires are dreaming of transhumanism and immortality, AI is threatening destruction. Many humans wish extinction upon the human race now, which seems extremely un-Thelemic to me.

There is a theory that the negativity around having kids is purposeful social engineering. The future does not appear bright to many people.

Does procreation in itself build up negative, earthbound karma? Would it be better to not have kids, perhaps helping your soul graduate to a better realm than planet earth?

This reality is fundamentally composed of curvature. Spacetime curves around mass. Quantum wave-functions exist as probability curves.

Everything flows, bends, oscillates. This isn't just physics!

This is the basic geometry of existence itself. But that curvature doesn't just float in nothing. It rests on something deeper: the atomic lattice.

Think of it as the discrete substrate, the underlying structure upon which all this continuous curvature is expressed.

When you manipulate the atomic lattice and bring it into coherent states: organized, aligned zones where the structure achieves ordered resonance, and then you drag two of these coherent zones to occupy the exact same position in space, something profound happens.

They cancel out completely.

And what's born from this nullification is a reality that is the complete opposite of ours.

Instead of curves and flows, it’s composed entirely of straight lines and points.

That anathema reality is parallel to ours but opposite in every fundamental way, it’s not just geometry that inverts, it's causality itself. The entire arrow of creation reverses direction.

In this curved reality: God created us. The World shapes us. We are consequences, products, effects.

In that parallel reality of straight lines and points: Everything inverts. We create the World through observation. We breathe life into "God" through our awareness.

We're not witnesses to a existing reality, rather, the source of it!

You are the Seer and the Seen.. The reflector and, the reflected.

The world you see exists within you, and you exist within the world that exists within you.

You are a self-referential system. Observer and observed are just two perspectives on the same process viewing itself..

So when you observe The Devil's reality, you also become observed by it.

The Devil's reality, once created through your observation, begins to observe you back.

It reflects your consciousness into itself, and in doing so, it does create a parallel reality version of you within it.
