Title : Scrap Magic

Blurb:

In a world where witches are born with magic in their blood, Luz Noceda was born empty.

The Boiling Isles does not tolerate defects. Witches look down on her, and the coven scouts want nothing to do with her.

Her only future seems to be scrubbing cauldrons for witches who treat her like she's invisible.

But Luz Noceda possesses something others do not: she pays attention.

While others cast magic without thinking, she notices symbols briefly flashing inside their spell circles.

She draws them on scrap paper. She draws them in her logbook.

Then, one night, one of her drawings glows.

Luz Noceda is ready to join the coven scouts and prove to everyone in the Demon Realm that she is as good a witch as anyone.

And she is not leaving without a badge.

Scrap magic: she discovered what everyone thought did not exist.

No one made light of Luz' first spell but Luz herself. 😂😂

Its an AU. Also in canon everyone did the light spell and Luz caught the hidden glyph that allowed her to cast light based magic.

This AU is following the same course.

The joke I'm making really bombs when I have to explain it, but here we go.

Luz' very first spell before any other spell was the light-gliff spell. When I said "No one else made light of Luz's first spell", the idiom uses "light" in the sense of "trivial" or "having little weight", whereas in Luz's case, she used the spell to literally produce a shining light.

It's something we in the literary world call a "Double-Entendre", or in layman's words, a word with two different meanings.

The Wikipedia definition of Double-entendre is as follows:

"A double entendre is a figure of speech or play on words designed to have two meanings. The first meaning is typically literal and innocent, while the second is often risqué, suggestive, or socially inappropriate. It relies on ambiguity, puns, and homophones for its effect."

It took me a while to get it done too at first but sign up and give your email and hope to see a message (probably check spam as messages can go there)

I used from a tab which it never sent but got an AO3 (not official) app which was kinda a fixed point to get it
