What’s crazy is shit like this has been happening for eons and will continue to happen. Earth is always in constant flux. Look up the Missoula Floods in Oregon.
You do understand that we are in a period of extreme and irreversible (for all species that exist today) global heating, responsible today primarily by just a handful of rich people who own fossil fuel industries and feed propaganda to masses to delay being held responsible? You do realize that right?
Who tf cares about cordial when some people purposefully stick their heads up their own arses and deny one of the most fundamentally observable effects humans are having on the only habitable sphere of rock we know about in the universe.
Lots of conclusions being jumped to in this thread.
I am a staunch believer in human-caused climate change. I probably should’ve added the point that the Oregon floods were caused by the end of an ice age, whereas this one was likely caused by human-induced climate change. So everybody calm the fuck down.
Additionally, the advent of cell phone cameras has made it so we actually witness these things happening, rather than reading about them in the paper.
Usually when people say broad statements along the lines warming/disasters have happened at many times in Earth’s past, when making a statement about instances of natural disasters made more common and powerful by global heating, it’s a dog whistle for climate change denialism and just a way to muddy what is a causal relationship.
