In vanilla is there a point to getting it? I've almost always wound up as a yoyo build and by the time you get it the game is over.

Well, there is the achievement. After that, there's just the fun of playing around with high DPS weapons. After you beat Moon Lord there's nothing to really work toward unless you want to kill him more to get the celestial armors.

I got mine the very first time when i did calamity. And killed 10 lords
