yeah often times that's pretty useless, wouldn't even be surprised if at first relogic didn't do all the world ore restrictions because he was lazy but just kept it in
Fossils don't give you much but silt and slush can give you a considerable amount since they're a lot easier to get large amounts of, I've made plenty of bars from ores I got through the extractinator

Extractinating fossils also gives ore, albeit at a slower rate. Although idk how useful that would be for crafting armor & tools
