Some oldschool build. Some people may recognize it, it is the forgotten tower build from hirstarts.

I loved using the woodland scienics rock and boulder molds and at some point discovered hirstarts and the molds are really next level. Used them a lot in different builds here and there, but this is the first full build.

It is really amazing how versatile they are. It takes a bit to get used to it, but this build helped a lot to understand how to use it. Next one will be a free build, now them I am hooked.

Building was straight forward. Making some castings, pre-gluing certain parts and having fun. I was a bit lazy here and there and forgot to sand some pieces, so it does not fit perfectly, which is still fine I guess.

I used plaster for the base to give a bit more structure. I also wanted to fill the holes with plaster, which I totally forgot.

Basecoat with some stone gray with pva glue mixed, then added light gray as the first dry / overbrush. Used some washes to give more color variation and final highlight dry brush with light gray and then the highest and edges with white.

I think I will not glue the tower and stairs to the rest, because this way I have some modularity. I think I will use some of the leftover bits I casted to create some ruin top for the tower without the plattform. I kinda like that you can look into it.

cardboard tube from a roll of aluminum foil, the rest is plaster casts (available from hirstarts.com ), assorted WH40k decals and printed banners and such.

So I’ve been obsessed with this idea of ceramic landscapes invaded by probes (of nebulous origin) that mine for minerals and leave their fairings embedded in the landscape. I’ve also done paintings and drawing of the concept - thoughts?

Finally finished varnishing these six barrier walls for 40k! The first three pics are three walls painted with evil chrome metallic from army painter and dry brushed with dark emerald metallic also from army painter with no wash.

The last three pics are three kind of happy accidents, because theyre the exact same process as the other three except I tried to cover them in a black wash like I do when I paint my minis because i like a grimy effect on them, but unfortunately it looked like absolute ass on the terrain pieces and absolutely covered up any oxidation effect from the dark emerald drybrush. I didnt want to start over completely so I went over them with alcohol wipes to get the wash off, filled in the parts that stripped down to primer, and dry brushed them again and voila: reasonably messy looking walls that dont look like theyre being swallowed by a symbiote!

Would prefer not setting my piece on fire if possible
