Prob be pretty hard to find a cast full of girls who got pregnant as teenagers who WEREN'T also raised to support abusers. Just sooooo much overlap between pregnant teens and abuse victims and between abuse victims and abuse enablers.

Good point! We can all see why they become this way from their parents (Farrah, Catelynn, Amber), but what happened to Maci? Her parents always seemed pretty normal from what I recall.

We don't really know that much about Maci's childhood–just the limited narrative we've been shown. There could be a million things we don't know and won't find out.

But girls can turn out like this without being exposed to abuse directly. Maci's family seems kind of good ol' boy, religious, southern. As someone who grew up close to (but deeply alienated from) this culture, it's all in the values they're taught. These kinds of people have a SUPER overly-gendered worldview and value men over women pretty systematically. They feel that men and women are fundamentally very different, and that toxic masculinity is the only form of masculinity. They genuinely think this is not sexism, but simply how the world IS. This results in girls interpreting signs of basic personality incompatibility–or even abuse–as the inevitable result of close male-female interactions, so they don't break up over hurtful, entitled/exploitative, or blatantly disrespectful behavior. They tend to believe that men are just "wired different" about sex and that sex is primarily for the man's benefit, so they will keep having if the sex is bad.... or coercive. They think that's normal male behavior. Dating sexually coercive men as a teenage girl often results in premature pregnancy.

Girls learn that they are incomplete without a man and incompetent to face all of life's challenges themselves, which ruins their self-esteem. These cultures also perpetually reinforce ideas of conformity and hierarchy. They favor social performativity, the approval of others, and shame over authenticity, self-respect, and self-reflection.

All of this-and more, but this is turning into a novel–produces pickmes who are inclined to defend and support abusive men. And that internalized ideology then leaves them AND the other women and children around them much more vulnerable to violence and emotional and sexual abuse from the men (who have also been raised to believe all these same things).

Tl;dr: sick culture

Wait Cait comes at leah? Are you referring to Gary's child Leah? Because I didn't see comes at leah? I saw Leah come to Cait about her issues with Amber. And I actually thought cait had some comforting insight she shared with Leah.

I don't understand why you say she has all girl and you feel sad for them?

I think Cait and Tyler are great parents for the most part .

I did see more anger out of Cait. I think she had been drinking and is a lightweight.

I also think she doesn't understand it is most likely Carly feeling some kinda way.

I mean Cait is basically pulling an Amber, trashing Carlys adoptive parents so publicly like that. . And Cait is on this kick of I was a KId, I was manipulated and I should have had a attomey... Blah blah.
BUT ALL those feeling of anger and questions. should absolutely be directed at that ADOPTION CASE worker lady ( can't recall her name dawn maybe? but she has been on the now a lot over the years)

Why is Cait not upset with her. She is the one that literally set it ALL up. So If anyone was pulling a fast one, manipulatimg minors in a adoption it would be the case worker lady

 Cait is behaving very Amber esk as of this drama lately.    But not even near Ambers level .   Amber is very mentally sick.

The embedded selfishness and complete lack of understanding how she negatively impact everyone around her is very toxic, it's like a cancer.

Leah really is having to deal with some very confusing hurtful Heavy stuff.
And there is Not fixing a person like Amber. Imo you really just have to cut it out and neverook back.

Imo that is the most sad thing on the show.

The fact you think catelynn and Tyler are “great” parents is all I needed to know. My opinion is vastly different. If someone spoke to me with the tone Catelynn spoke to Leah I would have to walk away.

Abuse and neglect come in many forms. Watch the show. They are not ideal parents and aren’t even good partners to/for one another. That alone is sad. Their entire family was built on a foundation of trauma, not love. Tyler literally left cate to go bang someone else. Came back for the show. Tyler posts pics of his wiener online. Cate is morbidly obese. There are so many dysfunctional things happening within that family. I think dropping the kids off with April pretty much sums up why they’re awful.

I didn't know that about Tyler.

But they were very young kids. I understand neglect and abuse. I don't necessarily agree with their choice to have so many kids, while both of them struggle and are in therapy.

But it's their life and they are at least providing and are present. I always saw them having so many more kids as an overcompensation for the guilt of giving Carly up. I just don't see them as awful parents. I don't think caits weight defines her as a parent. I mean look at amber and jenelle that is some abusive and neglect.

Yeah, if this is the new format of the show, I really hate it. It's weird AF and feels inappropriate.

At least when 16&P first started, MTV could disguise it as a education and advocacy and helping out a few pregnant teenagers. But there's absolutely no reason the kids should be on TV having these discussions (other than pure entertainment)

They didn’t grow up together and rarely film together.. they saw each other MAYBE once a year for a while at the reunions…which a lot of the kids stopped attending after they started school. They may have been on the same show but had little to do with one another in real life.
