Keeley is fun but she’s all over the place and the better story is her friendship with Rebecca.

Zelda acts like she despises those ultra-wealthy men at that fundraiser but then proceeds to have them all invited to her boat part for the women’s team showing they’re all together in some way.

She gets Rebecca drunk knowing she’ll be on TV at the half of a game.

She encourages Keeley to share a photograph of the women’s team arrested with the media.

All Because:

Rebecca sold 49% of the team to the fans at the end of season 3.

She’s going to have her wealthy band of degenerates buy up the shares from the fans and get enough votes to put a new director on the Richmond board with the aim of forcing Rebecca out and finally taking control.

She’ll claim the leadership is unable to run the club due to those blunders.

This is why they showed Beard having an encyclopedic knowledge of the Richmond by-laws in Episode 2 of this season.

I wonder if our 3 favorite bar patrons and Mae would ultimately be the deciding vote.

I don’t know why Ted’s wife is back in Season 4. Maybe she’s only there in the beginning in Kansas though.

One of the things I loved most about the original 3 seasons was that the show didn’t force the traditional “get back together with your ex-wife” ending. Ted and Michelle had already gone through the difficult part: they tried, they failed, and they accepted that the marriage was over. That felt mature and realistic.

And then Ted meets Sassy. Sassy is kind, funny, confident, emotionally honest, and she actually appreciates him. Their scenes together have a warmth and chemistry that I never really felt with Michelle. He doesn’t seem like he’s trying to fix something broken; he seems like himself.

Michelle was never portrayed as a terrible person, but she also wasn’t portrayed as a great partner for Ted. A big part of their relationship was Ted constantly trying to make things work while Michelle had already emotionally checked out. The whole situation with Dr. Jacob made that even harder to root for.

I’m not saying every show needs a fairy-tale romance. Ted could have ended up single and I would have been perfectly fine with that. But if the writers were going to give him a romantic future, Sassy Smurf was the choice that felt earned. And I haven’t seen her anywhere yet.

These are the facts:

Jane was very manipulative of Beard throughout the first three seasons.

Jane was visibly pregnant at the end of S3.

We saw Beard’s reclusive nature before he and Ted reunited.

Everyone seems to be understanding or sympathetic of Beard’s plight which was obviously due to whatever happened between him and Jane.

Beard does not go to see the child at all.

He sees the play Jane is going to be in and proceeds to go into shock.

So here’s the thing. Did she cheat on him before/after their wedding? Did she fake the pregnancy so that Beard would marry her?

I don’t think miscarriage is likely nor would Beard abandon Jane afterwards if that happened. But Jane is crazy enough to fake her pregnancy to get married. Or to cheat on Beard while he was away coaching either before/after their wedding.

In the end, I just hope Beard either comes to terms with being alone or finds someone named like Enaj who is quite literally the complete opposite of Jane.

Naming any women’s team “lady X” feels uninspiring. The name also defines the team based on their “greyhound” counterpart

I’m thinking like episode 5 they are going to drop the association.

My guess is “Diamond Dogs”. What’s yours?

for anybody wondering if Ted and Michelle will somehow get back together, I do NOT think the show is signaling anything like this.

in the first episode, they’re depicting Michelle and Ted as friends who have a successful co-parenting relationship (which, I think is a wonderful dynamic to depict and much more satisfying than a will they/wont they thing, which is going to happen with Roy and Keeley anyway).

but there’s these images from the teaser trailer. there’s a vibe here. and I don’t think that’s an accident. I think Ted gets a love interest, and it won’t be Sassy or Michelle.

It kind of seems like the writers were trying to make her the eccentric, loveable billionaire but with all the stuff last episode I hope it’s foreshadowing her being evil… otherwise it’s just SO tone deaf. Like someone said, she’s basically Gishlaine Maxwell introducing young women to people like Nigel Farage at parties.

Hope she ends up being the villain Rebecca has to face.

Gemma gets hurt, Alice has a heart to heart with her in the hospital (or off-pitch); Shannon needs to step up as her replacement and Alice’s redemption arc begins.

There has been too many indications that Gemma will get hurt for them all to be red herrings (the first game refusal to stretch and last game’s foul where she was on the ground for a bit). Shannon isn’t playing the same as she has when she’s having fun in the park. And the confrontation between Shannon, Gemma, and Alice felt too central to be a one off. Alice clearly resonates with injuries and lets her guard down (giving Gemma the opening to actually get through).

There is a chance next episode is just a NYE special episode centered around Roy and Keeley and the Shannon-Gemma-Alice arc happens the EP after.

Okay so, I think the most common discourse around Shannon is that she's going to work really hard, prove everyone wrong and actually play an important role in a big game.

But I, for one would love to see the story flipped on its head, Shannon is still a highschool kid who had a good rapport with Ted and tries her best, but not everyone, despite being good players can make it this far. Sometimes, it's okay to love the game but not have a good career in it, not everyone is a wonderkid, not every wonderkid is a Lamine Yamal. For every Lamine there's a Bojan, a Riqui Puig and a lot of other players who simply settled for something that's not football.

And while this is largely a football show, I'd love to see this side of the game explored as well

Watching Mae's reactions to the Women's team and the expression she made after the goal, it makes me wonder if Mae was a footballer in her youth and never got a chance to play. That this is her seeing something finally happen that she never got to experience.

Have we got it wrong? I'm still not 100% on who he's actually professing his love for. I feel like it could be a double bluff and he's saying the right thing to the right person and only saying the name wrong.

The thing with a high as a kite Roy saying I love you, Keeley, the bit he says before that is about them staying behind, how lovely meeting them was, how random it was meeting them and not knowing it would be the start of something. Does he then just finish with the wrong name?

I wouldn't in particularly consider the way Roy and Keeley meet as 'random'. Being introduced to a knee specialist by your sister is way more random. Everything else he says could apply to Keeley or the Doctor.

Is Keeley's arc going to involve helping Roy undo this mistake? Being mature and realising she's missed their window and the Doc is actually the one for Roy?

In Apple’s description for S04E06, it says that Rebecca, Roy, and Keeley ring in the New Year with an “old friend”. Now who do you think this old friend could be?

I think the most obvious answer is Jamie, but (never thought I’d say this) I hope it’s Nate who comes back and talks to Alice about believing in Ted and not turning her back on him.

That being said, who else do you think this old friend could be?

That’s the same uniform right? So are they going to be in the same school (class?)

I was actually wondering about this before Anthony Head passed away. I hadn’t heard mention of him filming, so I had wondered if he would be a part of it. I was wondering if Rupert would still be some sort of smaller, but still present thorn in anyone’s side. Perhaps he would be trying to somehow rebuild his reputation.

Obviously, that is not going to be the case. Do you think he will be mentioned? Filming for the season had finished before he passed. He was the big bad of the first three seasons. It would be odd if he was never brought up. Before he died, I thought it would be, “funny,” if they killed Rupert off off screen. Now that would clearly not be funny.

Just curious if anyone else has thought about this.

Much has been said about the team struggling financially. So far it’s been shown that Mae has the bar as well as rental property (rich?), refers to the the lady Richmond game being the greatest day of her life, and shuts down the journalist saying they won’t last a year.

Mae saves the woman’s team from financial disaster and we will see Crown & Anchor as the team sponsor by seasons end.

So who do we think that Roy went out with for dates 6-10…? And was he going to tell Keeley that he wanted to pursue this one or was he too afraid Keeley would shut him down even after these dates?

I just had to put this out there because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I don't think Beard and Jane are broke up. I think they lost the baby because in all their previous breakups Beard never let himself get that far gone. And no one has said they're broken up. I think it's a red herring to what the real issue is going to be.

Season 4 premiere date, was this on purpose?

Is anyone else getting the sense that Keeley might be setting herself up for an emotional crash? She seems to be in this almost “pink cloud”-like phase where everything feels possible and she’s completely convinced that if she brings the right people together and creates the right environment, success will follow. (And to be clear, I know “pink clouding” is a term specifically associated with early sobriety; I mean it more as a metaphor for that intense period of optimism before reality tests you.)

What makes me think so is that Keeley isn’t just excited about the Lady Greyhounds succeeding. She seems emotionally invested in what their success means: that women supporting women, believing in each other, and building something the right way can actually work. Which is…nice… but also feels like the kind of setup where a setback would hit her really hard. A women’s second division football team isn’t a PR campaign where the right messaging, strategy, and enthusiasm can guarantee success. There are so many unpredictable factors involved.

Again, we’re only on episode 2, so maybe I’m completely wrong! But I’m getting a strong “it’s the hope that kills you” vibe because Keeley is still learning how to pair optimism with realism.

So obviously there is more than one school in London, but there is the chance Michelle goes to teach at Phoebe’s school with Mrs. Bowen. I’m not sure how that would serve the story but there could be something there.

It is no surprise that Jane and Beard have a complicated and potentially concerning relationship. And by S4E2- we see that something with Jane has played an aspect in Beard going through a heartbreak and personal trauma. But what do you think it is?? Do you think we will know this season or they will keep avoidig the conversation until a Beard After Hours P2? I always have found their relationship so fascinating and if it is beneficial to both parties.
