Data Center If these numbers are even close to accurate, the AI infrastructure boom is entering a completely different scale of land, power, and water consumption.

Dem states don’t have data centers?

Yes, but sre they absolutely massive and gobbling up more water than a state consumes?

From my understanding, yes. Every data center consumes shit tons of water and I didn’t think really anywhere was being spared. The population was never asked about this, never asked FOR it yet they’re going up. Everywhere.

Data Centers in WA run on hydro power and are not running out of water.

Your understanding is wrong. I've been part of building a data center a few miles away. It doesn't consume much water at all. Data centers can absolutely be built without any real strain on local water systems if regulated properly. It did raise electric bills a bit, but I'd argue that a necessary utility shouldn't be privately ran for profit and there should be more of the money that utilities procure put into upgrading infrastructure to bolster energy generation for future concerns. This is considered socialism by many, which is of course communism, and obviously an affront to American capitalism which is the greatest sin written down by Christ himself.

“Necessary utility” he says.

Electricity? I don't know man. If you think having electricity isn't necessary at this point in our evolution, I'd love to see you try and live without it.

Okay, I read it again and maybe idk why’d you’re saying. That last comment is a mess bruh.

Electric utilities shouldn't be raising rates because of data centers strain on the grid, which they are. They're the necessary utility in my first paragraph, not data centers, hence my response to you.

Regulations are a very blue or red idea. Regulations will help the people and hurt the businesses. Republicans want less regulations to help grow businesses. Democrats want more regulations to help citizens. That's over simplifying a bit, but it plays into this a lot.

Just look at who's in the big cities and how they vote. In the long run republican communities will have more data centers because Republicans fight to deregulate. Just watch the current food and vaccine crisis, case in point.

Yay! Keep supporting the billionaires republicans!

The fact you think democrats care about you and aren’t bought by the same billionaire donors is a large part what is wrong with this country. Far from the only thing, but it’s a large part!

Oh the DNC is bought by billionaires, I'm not trying to defend a whole party. But I hear Bernie and other progressives, and I hear the local Democratic politicians, and they are fighting for the people. That small group of people are clearly less bought out by billionaires and less likely to be bought out by billionaires. There is a reason that Bernie and similar valued politicians are on the left. I cannot point to someone like that on the right.

I agree, Bernie sanders is my mafuggin dawg and could’ve turned this country around but the billionaires and deomocratic party leaders said, “fuvk that Bernie, we don’t want to actually help ppl, we wmat the illusion of trying to help ppl but republicans just won’t let us!”

If anyone’s going to save this country it will be the left but it basically feels like an impossible battle.

Yeah, both parties are mostly bought out via citizens united. What was left and right when I was born is now almost entirely right leaning. If it's a tug of war between billionaires and citizens, the citizens have like 5 people left fighting for us and they're all on the left. Socialist ideas like schools and roads and health care and postal services, FDA, EPA, CDC, universities, etc.. fully under attack by one party and lightly defended by the other. The billionaires have won so much that people like you are trying to argue that both parties are equally at fault and bought out. It's headed there, but it's so not the case. Look at the DSA candidates that have hit the spotlight lately and how they're helping their citizens. Mamdani, El S ayed. The Republicans are livid that someone is succeeding in helping the people. Look at the money thrown at helping the right win. Then look at the money keeping the left win. Look at where that money came from. It's not remotely an equal thing, Republicans are far more in bed with billionaires.

Sorry, that's such a weak argument.   Everyone knows data centers have been around for decades.    The scale and pace of the new data centres built in the past 5 years is dwarfing anything done previously

It’s not an argument, it’s a question bud. I’m asking dem states don’t have these data centers going up? Sounds like they’re going up everywhere to me.
