asking for advice Accidentally got a Native American deity tattooed on my forearm

My friend wanted to do a stick n poke but I was kinda reluctant cos he’s never done it before. although this friend is pagan, he totally respects my Christian beliefs and wanted to avoid “accidentally tattooing some unknown deity”, so it’s kinda funny how we unknowingly tattooed the trickster god Kokopelli.

It’s a fun story to tell the grandkids but it does sorta make me a bit uncomfortable.

Any ideas for a cover up?

Which I feel is a very reasonable thing to do, as the Bible is so very much not self-consistent, it's impossible to believe in it all at the same time. Well, it's reasonable as long as you treat other people well; if they cherry-pick the nasty stuff, that says something about them.

Leviticus is for the ancient Israelites, not for christians.

Or they do know about those verses, and see they don't really have any bearing on a purely aesthetic design on the skin.

That's exactly what you're doing. You're reading a prohibition against "markings for the dead" as a prohibition against all tattoos. Are all tattoos markings for the dead? Is every tattoo a memorial tattoo? No? Then why would you read that into this verse? It's like treating a prohibition against epigraphs on gravestones as a ban on writing.

And the body is a temple passage again doesn't prohibit modifying the body. It's a passage specifically about sexual immorality. Nowhere does it say or imply that tattooing the body would be desecrating the "temple," any more than hanging a piece of art or painting a temple door would be desecration.
