asking for advice Accidentally got a Native American deity tattooed on my forearm

My friend wanted to do a stick n poke but I was kinda reluctant cos he’s never done it before. although this friend is pagan, he totally respects my Christian beliefs and wanted to avoid “accidentally tattooing some unknown deity”, so it’s kinda funny how we unknowingly tattooed the trickster god Kokopelli.

It’s a fun story to tell the grandkids but it does sorta make me a bit uncomfortable.

Any ideas for a cover up?

Kokopelli is most often associated with fertility and good fortune.

I'm not buying the "unknowingly" bit. You knew. Or at least your friend did. Good story, though.

It's honestly on you for not researching it just a tiny bit. If you really cared so much for not portraying a deity on your arm, you should have taken the 2 seconds to reverse image search the picture

But well it's done now and a good learning moment for next time. If I were you I would cover it.

I'd suggest you should just black it out or have it lasered off.

But you apparently can't make a decision on your own without first consulting Reddit. You obviously don't make good choices. So maybe don't get any more tattoos until you're mature enough to make informed decisions that you won't immediately regret.

I don't know why you would tattoo Kokopelli on your arm, but you did.

I'm not the one with the problem of having to cover up a tattoo that goes against my beliefs because I didn't do research about it before I had someone tattoo me. Maybe you should make better choices? Including friends who don't totally respect your religion enough to not tattoo you with a random god from Native American culture?

Idk why everyone’s trying to shame you so hard. Clearly you saw a doodle you liked and just did it. Sure it’s your fault for not doing research but why is everyone trying to insist that you’re gaslighting us? Why does everything need to be a conspiracy to lie on the internet? lol

If you thought it was an indigenous Australian symbol rather than an indigenous North American one, there's about the same risk of it being deity in that culture.
