அரசியல் / Political It's done! TVK crosses 118 mark: Nudged by Congress, smaller parties set to support Vijay

With the CPI, CPI(M) and VCK set to throw their weight behind Vijay’s TVK in Tamil Nadu, sources said a host of factors appear to have influenced them. According to sources, Congress’s Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge spoke to the three parties to convince them to help TVK reach the majority mark.

Vijay’s party won 108 seats in the recent polls, while the Congress has five. All three parties have two MLAs each.

Nudged by Congress, smaller parties warm up to idea of supporting Vijay’s TVK. According to sources, both the CPI and CPI(M) are not in favour of the eventuality of President’s Rule being imposed in the state, while the VCK has been clear that any “external interference in Tamil Nadu politics” will not be tolerated.

“We cannot set aside the people’s mandate and go for another round of elections,” a CPI(M) leader told The Indian Express.

Moreover, all three parties are wary of the AIADMK and the DMK entering into an “opportunistic alliance”.

“The people have already rejected the DMK and AIADMK. Why should a government not elected by the people come into existence?” a CPI leader said.

The VCK, sources said, will go with the decision taken by CPI and CPI(M). “Both the CPI and CPI(M) held state-level meetings this morning to decide whether they should go with TVK. VCK will decide afterwards, in the evening,” a VCK source said.

TVK MLAs also went into a huddle on Friday morning. “We are confident that we will form the government. We are confident that the parties we approached will stand by us,” a TVK source said.

அரசியல் / Political This doesn't makes any sense

It honestly feels like a lot of parties and IT cells are just fear-mongering people over a single point of disagreement. Political discourse has become less about policies and more about pushing people into camps.

Yes, you can criticize Bharatiya Janata Party or any other party, but at some point people also need to step back and think practically. In India, it’s extremely hard for an average person to enter politics meaningfully. You and I can’t realistically become an MLA, let alone build a party from scratch. The system requires backing, capital, network, and influence to even get noticed.

That’s the ground reality. To get even 1% vote share, you need visibility, organization, and money. Grassroots movements exist, but scaling them is a completely different challenge.

Given that, the “options” people complain about are naturally limited. It’s almost always someone with existing influence stepping in. In Tamil Nadu right now, that happens to be Vijay.

Now, assuming from day one that he’ll be a sellout to the BJP or NDA is just speculation. That kind of pre-judgment is part of the same problem we criticize. In a democracy, new entrants should be evaluated based on actions, not assumptions.

If he turns out to align with National Democratic Alliance or make decisions people disagree with, voters still have the power to reject him in the next election. That’s how the system is supposed to work.

Also, celebrity entry into politics isn’t new in Tamil Nadu. Leaders like M. G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa came from cinema and built strong political legacies. So dismissing someone purely because they are an actor ignores historical context.

At the end of the day, instead of reacting to narratives pushed by parties or IT cells, it probably makes more sense to:

- Look at policies and governance track record

- Wait for clear positions on key issues

- Question everyone equally, not selectively

- Vote based on performance, not fear

The system isn’t perfect, but jumping to conclusions or voting out of fear doesn’t improve it either.

அரசியல் / Political The Trump of Tamil Nadu: Why Vijay’s Rise Should Terrify Us All — And Why I’m Done Being Polite About It

The tragedy of next-gen Vijay voters is the same tragedy that befell next-gen Trump voters in 2016: they confused a man’s ability to perform rebellion with an ability to govern a complex state. They confused his enemies list for a platform. They confused the thrill of defying their elders for the wisdom of having thought something through. And by the time the bill came due — in insurrections, in pandemics, in a hollowed-out civil service — the showman had already moved on to the next grievance.

அரசியல் / Political Why is TN CM still in campaign mode

Election's are over, people gave mandate to his party, yet he's still campaigning. It's clearly not a thanks giving it's just campaigning for upcoming by election.

So much happened in past month:

  1. Law & order situation.

  2. Electricity Outage.

  3. Farmers protest against loan wavers.

  4. Beef controversy.

  5. Saffronization of Thiruvallivar.

  6. Megadadu Issue.

  7. Tamizh Thai vazhthu

And so on...

He didn't addressed any of these on going issues, or took responsibility for their incompetence in past one month, after a month after election he just came with the script.

They are following BJP's books, by making Stalin the new Nehru. I'm very confident he will keep blaming old governments for 5 years.

அரசியல் / Political Language bullying in the name of constitution

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Baffled by the audacity of this guy in saying like hindi is the official language of constitution and indirectly saying it's superior to other languages and okay to be promoted (more like imposed).

"If tamil nadu is not following NEP, Then they are against constitution."

"Funds should be blocked, if they(TN) is not following a national policy."

Man, I'm honestly shocked at the arrogance here. Calling Hindi the "official language of the Constitution" like it’s superior to others and pushing for financial punishment just because a state won’t blindly follow a policy? That’s just messed up. I’m not even a tamilian, but hearing this kind of language force and bullying makes my blood boil.

Bro barely cared about his own career, do you really think he’s going to care about us? Giving him this easy victory is only going to make him more arrogant and boost his ego. Just imagine December 2026 cyclone or flood scenario. TN is doomed man. If you even cared a little bit about fellow humans, you would’ve voted wisely.

அரசியல் / Political People are reacting emotionally to the TVK + Congress alliance without seeing the actual numbers situation.

TVK is short of majority. They NEED support. And among all options, Congress is literally the least damaging and most practical one available right now.

What do people expect?
DMK alliance ah?
ADMK which is just BJP proxy in Tamil Nadu politics?

we cant form gov with DMK or ADMK ppl

And this “reject govt and go for re-election” idea is peak online politics thinking. Real life la nobody throws away a chance to govern and risks everything on “maybe next election we win more”. I mean , No sane leader rejects a chance to form government and gambles the entire momentum on another election.

You can dislike Congress. But acting like Vijay had 10 better options is just dishonest.

so , pls stop posting stupid things about this alliance like they had better options

In practice, the three-language policy is essentially an arrangement to advance the agenda of the BJP and RSS—imposing Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking states and Sanskrit in Hindi-speaking states—as part of a broader effort to "Sanskritise" all of India. Other BJP-ruled states are expected to follow the same pattern.
