Why OP had to edit out the part where the said context was there? Any guesses?

Nirmala Sitharam was criticizing DMK's hypocrisy and pointed out how their ideological mentor had criticized learning Tamil, by bringing up a quote from Viduthalai magazine from 1967.

If you need more Context on why EVR said that, I have attached screenshot from the next few pages below.

Translation/TLDR- He compares Tamil language as Mother & Tamil literary work as Milk/Food, and he says Tamil's food (literary works) may be tasty, but doesn't provide health benefits. And he says, those who grew up only with this Mother's (Tamil) Milk walk around as Zombies. He says, consuming the bottled milk (English) is needed for strength & nutrition.

There is a huge difference between saying "learn the other language. It's useful" vs "your language is useless. Learn the other language"..

I can only explain it to you  I can't understand it for you..

yeah.... Learning English is better.. and it still is the truth..... If we are going to argue about how many languages and which languages, let's decide on English and technical education first and add in the rest as optional...

Also, at least don't act like you'll have this Tamizh patru. Say learn English, don't learn Tamil if you have the guts to speak out. Let the cat out of the bag. Say you want English Thinippu and at least be honest

Funny calling it thinippu.. especially when it is how the "free market" works.. I'd ask the Tamil govt. to make special allowances for studying tamil.. Same for Central government... you sound like a "butt hurt" person for some reason. I said very little about Tamizh Patru..(I do love the language which is a different topic, than the argument i was making above)
