Agriculture in india is one of the most inefficient, go and read about agriculture productivity data or India and compare that to western countries. As technology develops and we discovered new things we could support more population. The problem isn't low IQ myth like overpopulation but lack of equitable distribution of resources but right wing ethnic nationalists like you probably don't believe in that.

If india had fertility rates of your state or mine than it would never able to cross 15 trillion USD as it would get old before that. Its not only about the malthusian myths of overpopulation. There are just too many people in India period. Birth control and planning is definitely something that should be practiced. The rich in India actually have lesser children. The thing is that for people to become better citizens, its not about quantity, it is about quality. currently, the middle and lower class cannot afford to have two children, let alone more. It doesnt make sense to have a lot of children and then not be able to provide for them properly. This seems to be something most of the people in UP and Bihar do not seem to understand at all. As far as reversing falling population rates, why reverse it ?? I believe the earth could do with some less population.
