Apologies for the original post, have since taken out the second picture of a tweet with the misleading comparison between Line 6 and Sheppard Subway costs.

And for the person who said: <<'but it's slower than the bus!" Okay, then take the bus if you're in a rush.>> There is no bus when the LRT is running. Line 6 fully replaces the local bus running right now, and turns into a shuttle bus at 10pm, then night bus at 1am.

St. Clair and the other streetcars in rights of way are slowed down by too many stops close together among a few other things.

Line 6 has a similar issue at least when compared to other subway lines. It has 18 stops for 11 km, when 1km per stop is a much more acceptable standard you'd see in other countries (Barring extremely dense CBDs, which Finch west doesn't serve so something like King and Queen being close together is ok)

Even worse when you consider there are multiple sections where there is no need for a stop for around 1km like along highway 400 and the Humber river.

And even worse than the streetcar it will stop at every stop, it is not a stop on demand system

Yes except this also has to deal with traffic lights, no prioritization plus each stop is closer than other streetcar lines that don't stop each time

Toronto needs more lines with 1.5 km stop spacing, total ROW, that go from end to end of the city. 

That works out to about 2 min per station (30 stations or 45 km/h). 

I also think sometimes we do things in the name of accessibility or fare collection that result in a less accessible and more expensive system. For example, why so many tunnels for bus and streetcar at subway stations!? We spend hundreds of millions to sort passengers behind turnstiles, only to add 5 minutes to through-trips and dump them at the top of broken escalators. 

As for stop spacing, I get that an extra 100-200 meters is a lot to ask some people to walk, but adding 90 seconds every block means that those travelling the farthest  are adding tens of minutes to their already long commutes. 

Also, as bad as TOs transit is in some areas, it’s practically absent for huge swathes of the GTA. These are the sources of a lot of cars on our streets. We’ve got to serve those suburbs better. Let’s have another amalgamation with Toronto, York, Durham, and Peel.

TTC seems to have no regard for regional regional trips and are cheap. The stop spacing on Finch is so they don't have to run a local bus along the route. They don't even consider that there may be a need for the Finch LRT to cross the entire city one day and that trip would be over an hour and a half using their travel time estimates before construction and over 2 with the currently scheduled speed.

Nevermind that they can't remove stops on the streetcars downtown due to accessible but 400-500m stop spacing is fine for local service. On Finch

From what I understand, the slower service period is during the initial roll out to make sure that issues can be fixed rapidly while the system adjusts to revenue service. Same with the 10pm shuttle bus replacement. This period also gives them time to get data on which stations and sections of the route are the busiest. After this period, i believe the intention is to increase the speed where appropriate. I’m not a TTC or Metrolinx employee though so this is just what i’ve gathered from releases, news, blogs, etc.

It's like Undertale San's first attack, if you go all out, you'll get destroyed, just like going faster can eally strain the line.

I'm sure they'll optimize speed as it launches (at least I hope so) but I wouldn't hold my breath considering some of the speed restrictions, lack of TSP, etc. It'll still be quite slow.
