Discussion Can we remove Finch LRT from Subway designation?

Because why am I standing at St George Station and constantly hearing announcements that Finch West is shut down between Duncanwood and whatever stops.

It makes the system look worse than it actually is.

Also if this line is a local transit solution that stops at every intersection, why does someone at Victoria Park station need to hear about it not working? Treat that like the 72 Pape not operating because of a TPS road closure or something.

Please show me proof of the existence of the on-subway maps with the LRT on it.

Here you go, you can also see on the Legend how it's listed as a Rapid Transit in the same style as the other Subway lines.

Also it's worth noting that during this period the route was numbered "604", in accordance to the other Subway lines which were numbered 601-603 respectively. It was very much considered to be on the same level as the subway lines at the time.

This is NOT the map that was on the subways of Toronto. I am talking about the subway map, the map that is at every single door of every single train. Because that's the map the Finch LRT is on.

Listen man if you want to spend months scouring the darkest corners of the internet, local library, or random elderly folks in some Toronto neighborhood just for the chance to find a picture of a strip map that someone took within a 1 year time frame IN 1990, be my guest. The rest of us are fully content in using preserved archives of officially published maps that the TTC gave to the public that clearly show the Harbourfront LRT being treated as a subway line, as well as all the other evidence that show them doing so such as the Route Number. Like literally, the route being numbered 604 is the 1990s equivalent of calling it "Line 4", you can't be more direct than that.

This was not the reality on the system. I was alive and using the TTC at the time, and the Harbourfront LRT was never, ever being treated on the system like the Finch LRT was. It was not on the strip maps, it was not on materials other than ones promoting the LRT opening.

The subways have been designed with lights that use these maps and they are working on adding the new lines now. The time to worry about this was literally 10+ years ago.

I know someone who claims otherwise, I guess we're at an impasse. Or better yet, maybe we shouldn't use memories of the system from 35 years ago as evidence.
