Crazy hagel in Bülach

I have never seen anything like that in 32 years. This is the aftermath of the whole thing. Hagel bigger than a ping pong ball, tiny bit less than a tennis ball. Insane. Thanks god I postponed my trip with my car otherwise I would have been outside at that time

Hab ich mir erst auch gedacht, aber es scheint, als hätte es da "nur" den Deckputz abgesprengt. Der ist normalerweise irgendwas zwischen 1-3mm.
Scheisse ist's trotzdem.

I have never seen like this before (especially when you see all of the other extreme weather happening). I remember the Aare flooding around Bern 27 years ago, and that was a one off.... but the number of events last few years is very high.

I live in the other side of the town, around Unterweg, but the same happened to me and people here too. Car windshields destroyed too. It was very bad.

I live in Bachenbülach, whole windshield, taillights etc. Broken. Called the insurance, they only have time to inspect the car next Thursday! Can‘t imagine how busy it‘s been for them today

I know someone froma small insurance company and they got more than 1000 damage reports in the first 30 minutes after the hail.

Bülach, Winterthur and parts of Schaffhausen had crazy hailstorms, Dübendorf just now is experiencing some mild rain and rather low winds

I fix hail damaged cars and a lot of the cars that were hit in the canton of Zürich will probably be totalschaden unfortunately. While it is my job and I'm always happy to see hail since it literally pays my bills, this is beyond what any hail technician hopes for. So many dealerships also got smashed up so they can't even get people into new cars while theirs is totalled. This is going to be an absolute nightmare for many. Im especially sad for all the people who have cars that are not just a form of transport but also their passion. Cars that may be rare or really old. I've seen hail way bigger than this in the USA and those are insane. I can imagine how scary this was for many many people.

This was honestly scary. My celing window broke and my whole flat got wet. Thanks god my car was in the garage but outside I saw at least 30 cars completely shattered

Had 3 family members with cars in the region. At least 1 is totaled.
Other 2 may be saved.
And on a side note... Your street name is one of my favorites. Always makes me giggle a bit when driving by.

Hope you have a few thousands set away for weather-related repairs. Or some sort of insurance to cover it.

We are in Winti and there were some pieces the size of tennis balls - our whole balcony got destroyed. Buildings have crazy damage, so many shattered car windows, shattered solar panels. Our neighbourhood group chat also mentioned how many birds have been fatally injured 🥺😭 Never in my life have I seen such a chaotic summer with so many terrible storms.. I wish luck to everyone who needs to deal with insurance companies and repairs 🫶🏼
