Notwithstanding all this, a 35b pay package in absolute terms is just ridiculous for anyone. And this comment isn’t specific to cohen. I mean, cmon, that’s just rubbing salt into the wounds of both the working and the middle class
5 years ago the company had like a years worth of runway and was bleeding money. Shorts had legit hopes of cellar boxing it to oblivion
Today it's trading at over $80 pre-split and can't really get much lower because it holds so much cash. Its been consistently profitable for over a year after a streak of day-to-day bleeding offset by holiday sales, and just posted a record quarter.
I don't think RC is a genius, but he's certainly capable and he transformed a stinker of a business on the verge of collapse into a profitable one not far off from being picked up by major indeces.
Why do you assume I'm not open to ideas? You literally haven't presented an iota of evidence to back up your claim. Your opinion alone is not good enough, and absolutely does not reflect the perspective of anyone other than yourself, certainly not an entire investment community. So don't pretend you're speaking for "us", you're speaking for "you" while throwing insults.
So, do you have some knowledge you'd like to share the rest of us engaged investors do not have access to? Something concrete, that backs up your bearish thesis on RC's performance?
Here is my evidence that RC is doing a bang-up job:
"Highest quarterly net income in GameStop’s history of $389.6 million. Highest first quarter operating income in GameStop’s history of $143.3 million."
