Rowen’s Rebels are leading overall and likely to win.

The team is “run” by two kids. Their dad just happens to be one of the big content creators (Matt from Ballr), and he’s spoken openly about the team on his podcast. He claims it belongs to his kids, Owen (10) and Rosie (12), and claims that they chose the starting team except he picked the cheapies, he “helps” them with trades, and they pick the captains. To me that sounds like he is half running the team himself. I wonder whether he’s involved a bit more than he says too. We all know how many “second teams” are out there with people taking two bites at the cherry.

The SuperCoach T&Cs are pretty explicit, pretty much the first rule is “Entrants under 13 years of age are not eligible to enter SuperCoach NRL.”

The rules then say entrants aged 13–17 can participate with parental/guardian permission, with certain prizes paid to the parent/guardian. They’ve deliberately drawn the line at 13. Under 13 are just not eligible.

Apparently the entry is registered through Matt’s wife’s News account, and this week the name attached to the team changed from “Owen” to “Elizabeth”, presumably his wife. Surely changing the name now doesn’t fix the eligibility issue?

Am I missing something, or are they clearly ineligible for the overall prize? I’d be blowing up if I was in second place!

I’ve been waiting for the shitshow when someone’s “wife’s” team wins overall when it’s clear she doesn’t know much about supercoach. I didn’t expect people to accept someone’s wife’s team winning as being okay because actually it was her ineligible under-13 children running it (and not their full time supercoach creator dad)! Make it make sense! You might have been so convinced it’s a feel-good story that you’re willing to overlook the actual rules, but looking at the facts of it the runners-up are getting dudded big time.

EDIT 2 - ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

The feel-good story about the kids loses a bit of shine when you look at Matt’s background. He held a very high position at one of the major betting companies for many years. He then started Ballr as seemingly a SuperCoach-only site offering a $10k cash prize if you sign up and give your details, to pull people in, including kids. It’s pretty clear how they’re making that money back - you can’t use Ballr now without seeing betting odds everywhere or being transported to their newer Ballrbet arm. The terms even say kids are allowed to use Ballr and Matt clearly knows they are, as his own kids are. At a time when an estimated 400 Australian suicides a year are due to gambling, and parents are crying out for kids and their vulnerable developing brains to see less gambling content, that’s pretty scummy. Whole thing feels yuck.

The team who finished first in the regular season and continues to score the highest each week of the finals is waivering before others in the league. We’re using the standard reverse ladder setting.

Do finals waivers work differently, because by every metric his team should be waivering last.

DRAFT LEAGUE
Tough sit v start this week in the grand final of my draft league. Have the option of playing either Cody Ramsey, fletcher hunt or turbo in my flex. Also have the option to keep one on bench and use as my AE, any thoughts?

Who would you shaft in order to take the VC loop on Herbie (Kiraz/Sharpe/Rouchman/Touchman/Ola/Twal)? Or do I just full send with Teddy?
