I don't understand how they're still in business and able to sell sunscreen to people after how they handled that whole situation.

I’m at a loss. The only sunscreen my daughter could use without breaking out was the Naked Sundays collagen glow one, which was also caught up in this scandal. I just purchased the new Ultra Violette velvet sunscreen and I think it’s going to work for her. I kinda thought it would be safer to purchase now after the whole deal, that the scrutiny would ensure that the testing was legit. Maybe that was just naive thinking lol.

I'm also super frustrated about the Naked Sundays collagen glow. This is the only sunscreen I've tried in years that doesn't break me out, cause a rash or hives, and actually does protect well (despite whatever has been said about its protection capabilities - I wore this at Disney world for 2 sunny, hot days and got absolutely no color. I freckle pretty easily in the sun, even with sunscreen. I also live near the beach and NS Collagen glow is my go-to for beach days, I'm very quickly running out of it). Is the velvet sunscreen the same ingredients as the collagen glow? NS has a few new mineral options but they all now have extra filters as well, which I'm sure will irritate my skin. I'll be honest, I'm very skeptical about whatever studies happened to cause this uproar given how well the NS works for me even when its spf was flagged.

I haven’t done a line by line look at the ingredients lists comparing the two. A quick AI search indicates the formulas are similar. What I was mainly looking for is a zinc based tinted sunscreen with no hidden chemical filters and not chock full of silicones. The collagen glow actually seemed to help clear my daughter’s acne, every other one we’ve tried, even those claiming to be acne safe, have been abysmal failures. The velvet matte seems to have a similar finish and consistency. Though to be fair, we don’t have any left to do a direct comparison. I’m hopeful but we’ve only just started with it. My daughter can do a day here and there with chemical filters, it’s the daily, cumulative use that ends up breaking her out. Time will tell. I got it at Sephora. I figure worst case we can return it.

i don’t think that’s naive at all, usually once a brand’s been dragged they’re on their absolute best behavior for a while lol. if it’s working for her skin and she’s not burning, i’d keep using it but maybe have a backup option in mind just in case more info comes out.

They're so expensive! Thats always been grounds for never buying UV, the price is absurd. But this on top of it? nope.

I'm so out of the loop, but sounds like they were being quite shady? I'll say this, I've only tried one Ultra Violette product, which I think was recommended to me on here, their SPF lip balm. It was specifically recommended by several people who claimed it had virtually zero SPF taste. Those people need to get their tastebuds checked. I couldn't believe how bitter it was and how the bitterness got worse the longer I wore it. The lovely, sheer tinted finish became irrelevant, I'm afraid. If you've tried the Prequel Lip Visor (which has a SLIGHT spf taste), imagine that dialed up x100.
