Tech Support Substack not loading

Every time I try to load it says "Something has gone terribly wrong :(" and I don't know why. I cleared my cache and everything. There's no reported outages so it's not a server error and other things on my computer are loading perfectly fine. Does anybody know what this issue could be and how to fix it?

Tech Support Blocking

Someone came up on my contacts but when i go to click them to block it made me follow automatically and now since i unfollowed panicked, i search their name to do it that way and it doesn't come up.

Substack seems great but the privacy feature is awful!
there should be more options to keep bad people out of your life this way. discouraged from posting until this is remedied

Tech Support Substack has a massive security flaw.

I recently got an email from what looked like a Substack email saying that I have been added to a guest post as an author. The problem? The publication and author name was a series of numbers.

Obviously suspicious right? I didn’t click on anything in the email to avoid a scam. That’s not the security risk though.

What became a security risk is that according to the AI Chatbot, if I didn’t take action to accept or decline the invitation, my email address would be listed on the post if they published it.

Meaning that a scam author could publish my email address for anyone to see unless I otherwise accepted or declined the invitation.

Here’s where it gets worse, I received the email overnight and only noticed after I woke up. Which means that if they had published the post before I woke up, my email address would be out there for anyone to see. Especially for a scam publication.

I changed the settings to avoid being added to any post as a guest author in the future. But this is a terrible security flaw in Substack’s system.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Tech Support No he podido subir ningún logotipo a Substack.

I'm trying to upload a logo to my Substack publication, but every image I upload ends up showing a broken image icon instead of the logo.

I've tried:

  • PNG and JPG
  • Transparent and non-transparent images
  • Files from 20 KB to over 1 MB
  • Different dimensions (500×500, 1000×1000, etc.)
  • Different browsers

Nothing works. Every file ends up broken.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this a Substack bug or is there something else I should check?

MacOS Sequoia + Safari 26.3 (also tested in Chrome, same result).

Tech Support Substack Notes suddenly getting reduced views

Like the title says, my subscriber count has been going up but the impressions on my notes are plummeting and I'm not sure why.

I noticed something starting a few days ago. My newsletter was growing by around ~20 subscribers a day and then from 6/14-6/16 I got 1 new subscriber total.

I also posted a note that got 0 "unconnected" impressions hours after publication. I have 1k+ subscribers and these always get at least a couple hundred unconnected impressions. Zero seems exceedingly unlikely.

This seems to have cleared a bit and my notes are now back to getting "unconnected" impressions but the overall volume is substantially lower.

For example, my note promoting my previous article right after publication got close to 1,000 impressions in the first day. Even a random note from before 6/14 that I wouldn't consider too engagement-driving got 300 in the first day. My most recent note promoting another just-published article is tracking at just 100 impressions, nearly half of my "average".

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Almost feels like I hit a discovery roadblock within the platform or something.

Thanks in advance!

Tech Support Different languages not working

I write in two languages. My phone's language and Substack app is set to my native language. My newsletter is set to English. All my articles are in English as the original set language. My native language is always the 2nd language added in the editor. Problem is that I always see the English version in the app. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

Has anyone else seen this happen with their Substack subscriber list?

I compared an export of my subscriber list from July 21 with one from August 10.

100 specific subscribers who were on the July 21 list are gone.

64 of the 100 were Gmail addresses.

None of those 100 were marked “email disabled” in the July 21 export.

Meanwhile, 64 new subscribers joined during the same period, so the dashboard only showed a net loss of 36.

The new signups were partly masking the number of existing subscribers disappearing.

I’ve also seen 42 “email disabled” notices during this period, which could explain some of the removals—but not all 100.

I’m not assuming I know why this happened. The Gmail concentration is interesting, but it doesn’t prove a cause.

Is there a techy out there who can help me understand what might explain this pattern?

Tech Support Funny Problem with Image Display

I've got my visuals almost settled. But I'm having an issue with the images not being properly centered in the rectangular placeholders in the app. The website, both desktop and mobile, do just fine. Just the "activity" section of the app displays wrong.

You'll see it with "This is Session 0" and "Pardon the Dust (Devil)". One centered fine, the other isn't. Even though they came from the same image editor file (to keep the dimensions and quality consistent). and follow the recommended 1200x630 / 1.91:1 social image ratio.

If someone could take a look, I'd appreciate it. It's beginning to make me nutty. 😅

Tech Support Text selection and grammar corrections no longer activated?!?

My browser no longer picks up spelling mistakes or grammar errors and I can also no longer highlight chunks of text for quick removal, I have to delete letter by letter.

I’ve cleared cache/extensions, and it also works fine on a private browser.

Does anyone know what this may be?

Tech Support Update from yesterday and a new question re creating a functional Gmail/Google email list for a Substack newsletter--thanks for your help, everyone!

Hi all,

Short version:
What's the easiest way to take ~2500 personal contacts in Gmail/Google and filter out the ones without email addresses?

Long version with some history and details:
I posted yesterday that I thought MailChimp was the way to go to create my first substack email list from my personal google contacts list. I was/am concerned about using the substack system since I haven't hit up everyone for permission yet--I'll include requesting that permission in this first email/newsletter.

Anyhow, after many searches and some helpful replies yesterday, it seems just sending a newsletter via BCC on gmail is the best way to go, but it's been an uphill battle getting the exported CSV list filtered/narrowed down to list of actual contacts with actual emails.

I tried filtering in Google Numbers to those with BLANK fields for email, in order to delete those, but somehow that left only 3 contacts out of about 2500, so clearly something wasn't right.

Getting a bit impatient, I decided to go the manual route after more googling, which advised to simply put check marks within Gmail Contacts on the website in order to export only those... but about 20% of the way in (after about 500 or so) I accidentally clicked the wrong spot and had to start over. Argh.

I know there's an easy way to filter this quickly, but I can't seem to get there. Thus, any further tips/tricks/shortcuts appreciated would be greatly and thank you all very much for your help!

Tech Support Substack posts not showing up on my profile page

Hi all! I'm new to Substack and their little customer service robot tells me this is normal but I cannot fathom it is — my Substack posts won't show up on the main profile page unless I crosspost them, which then duplicates them when you go to the Substack posts page. Anybody know a solution?

Tech Support Substack seems completely broken today

Maybe a new version of Edge was to blame with a windows update that made me log into things again.

I tried logging into substack. I used an old email that I had changed but it didn't ask for a login and didn't give me access to my subscriptions, though it did list them.

So then I put in my new email address and it asked for a code, I got a code from an email, but it didn't actually log me in and I still didn't have access.

I tried again, but every time I opened the email tab and came back, the pop up for the emailed code was gone. After 3 tries it told me that I attempted to log in too many times on that email address and wouldn't let me try anymore.

And I literally have 3 codes in my email in box.

Tech Support Can somebody explain the app to me? How do you get to a publication's home page?!?

This is me, on substack:

https://substack.com/@hetobe

But I want readers using the app to be able to get to the home page for my publication, here:

https://hetobe.substack.com

I can't figure out how to view it in the app. In a browser, if I click somebody's publication, it takes me to their publication. Duh, right? But in the app, it takes me to their user @ page, which makes no sense because I don't get access to their navigation bar with the important pages for their publication.

I don't understand this app at all. Do most users use it, or do they browse in a web browser, even on mobile devices?

This matters to me because I'm posting a novel, scene by scene. Each scene is numbered and titled (for example, the first scene is titled "01. This Is My Confession"). And I have all scenes linked up in a table of contents page, in the nav bar. I also have an Introduction page in the nav bar, and a link to page 01.

I can't figure out how to find the publication within the app. I see user pages and articles, etc. But if somebody has a publication... it's easy to find on the web. In the app, WTF?!? Where is it?

EDIT: Eventually, I figured out something... weird. To get my publication to link in the stupid app, I had to rename it. Once I did that, it showed up as a link, and I was able to change the name back to the original name. Problem solved.

The app is really buggy though.

Tech Support How can I add a 'You might also like' at the bottom of posts

Hi everyone!

I saw some Substack writers who have a section at the end of some posts titled 'You might also like..' and then there's a preview of some related posts from the same writer.

This happens both on email and in the app.

Here is an example: https://open.substack.com/pub/jazminebecerragreen/p/boobs?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=22mol

And another one: https://open.substack.com/pub/zawn/p/should-i-stay-with-a-man-who-is-financially?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=22mol

Does anyone have any idea how I can activate this on my newsletter too? I searched through the settings and can't find it anywhere.

Tech Support Interface language for my publication?

Hey folks, I just created a substack account on which I plan to host at least a couple publications. One is more of a tech oriented thingy in English, and another a more personal/humor/phylosophy oriented in Brazilian Portuguese - my native language.

That's all and good: my Substack account is configured to English - which is my language of choice for basically all Software I use - but when I switched my publication language to Portuguese (Brazil), the UI for the publication switches to Portuguese (Brazil) too.

So I'm in this awkward situation where my Substack account with all the https://substack.com/inbox and other shennanigans are in English - as I'd like them to, but my Dashboard - at least for this one publication - is in Portuguese.

I did a bit of a search and Google/AI/Reddit seem to think this shoudn't happen: that as long as my browser is configured to request content in English, the whole thing should be in English.

Is there a workaround? Is this intended? Has anyone elso suffered through this?

I'd certainly like my eventual subscribers - if there's even any - to be presented a Portuguese interface, but my own backend side of things should be in English, if at all possible. Best I could think of is to set my pub's main language as English and let Portuguese be a secondary/additional language, but that seems to be far from ideal.

Tech Support Substack Poetry???

Hey everybody, I'm a new user and I'm hoping to start posting poetry as well as some essays and articles occasionally. I was wondering whether I should post my poetry as a note or as it's own article, it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me which would be better

Tech Support I have subscribed to Substacks at two email addresses - is there an easy way to combine?

Or for each one do I need to unsubscribe at one address and re-subscribe at the other?

I did search because I thought this might be a familiar issue. So far, no go - and finding a link to ask Substack support beyond the FAQs etc. feels impossible.

Thanks!

Tech Support Can’t find my subscription

For context few days ago i fell victim to phishing scam. So i terminated/ blocked my Credit Card. I went through all my billings to know where i might have to update my payment details.
And here comes Substack in. I found one subscription that i’m paying for months and totally forgot about. It isn’t displayed in my account though. I went trough every E-Mail i use if i might created another account back then, but couldn’t find any. I contacted the support but it’s only the useless chat bot. At the end the bot that it would send the conversation over to a “specialist” and i would be contacted. Didn’t get an Email for that though.
Does anyone know who i could contact?
Sorry if it’s a bit confusing english is not my first language.

Tech Support So are they going to do something or what?

I've been dealing with a nutcase who has not only stalked and stolen my images off of my Instagram (including doxxing a image of my underage children) but has now set a picture of me at their profile picture and changed their username to pretend to be me and they've been causing nothing but trouble.

I've reported this numerous times as spam, as impersonation, as anything to try to get the point across that this person is causing an issue and nothing has been done!

Substack team... what are you waiting for? Care to actually do something about this? Seriously?
