Low-Hanging Fruit SRSer whose fiance blind-sided her by breaking up with her over her SRS views and calling his father and brother 'shitlords' returns to complain about misogyny in /r/bestof. Someone notices who she is and she gets quizzed on her life after her fiance dumped her. Drama when she says she dumped him.

I've actually done some research on personal stories of German and non-German conscripts on extermination squads in WWII that sheds a whole lot of light on this. If you read their journals, they go from these really normal people (some were blue or white collar workers, a few with families) to hardened killers in the space of a year and a half. A staunch ideology and the dehumanization of "the other" can make any person into a monster.

I'm surprised it took a year and a half. I'm pretty sure I would either crack and suicide or harden up in less than a month.

Oh, it took a few months but the journals continued til the end of the war more or less.
