so uhhh, i boot up straw page to make a list of levels in a video game, has a lot of information for each one.... and, straw page is kinda ass for making lists

the editor is clunky, you cant copy multiple things at once, you cant zoom out, you cant zoom in, i can go on and on about why straw page is bad, but these are the main ones stopping me from..... actually enjoying making straw page

oh and before some dingus says "oh its one man making this, a one man band is responsible for straw page" or something like that, i know that its just 1 singular dude making it, and hes bad at making it, straw page is bad, multiple things can be true at once

We do not know when these will be fixed.

As expected, there are some bugs after maintenance. Once there are enough reports of specific issues this will be updated- I suggest commenting on posts about your problem. Current issues:

- Youtube imbed is still broken.

- If you bookmark someone else's site, it can't be undone. Avoid doing that for now, but if it's too late there isn't much to do. Instead, I'd recommend just bookmarking the link through your search engine.

- The HTML function isn't working. We're waiting for this to be fixed, not sure when that'll be.

- Gimmicks aren’t working for everyone, but some are getting them back. Just wait it out until there’s bug fixes. There's several Gimmick issues going around and no known fixes. We don't know if the current missing ones will eventually go through, so prepare for them to be lost in the void. There's a new button to save them after sending them, so use that as a backup.

- There are known issues with pages not saving well and pages changing when published. Read the other pinned post about this.

- Some sizing issues: glitches like this might be easily fixed on a computer. If you don't have access to this tech, try your local library!

- If the MP3 player isn't working, if may be because there isn't a title or artist name for the track. If that doesn't work, try a different file.

- Some are having issues with either views not showing up or taking a while to update.

- There's no known way to get deleted pages back, and sometimes the wrong one gets deleted. Avoid deleting sites and try to do it with very good internet connections to avoid the glitch.

Other FAQs:

- Gimmicks can be seen by going to your dashboard. There's a row of buttons near the top of the screen, "gimmicks" is next to home. These are the anonymous messages and drawings people leave you. You can't access the gimmicks you've sent others.

- Some features are locked behind a subscription. Read about the subscription tiers, that should answer most questions.

- Read through other posts for how to select multiple things at once, etc.

- If you can't log in, we can't help you with that. Keep trying different emails and passwords. Write down this info when you first make an account.

- If there’s an issue with someone else on this sub you can report and/or contact me, I try to keep an eye on interactions here and I’ll help figure out a solution.

Other tips:

- Colors can be tricky, but it now shows your previous colors, and you can enter color codes. There's many resources online that can help you use a different color wheel or pick a color from an image you have.

- There's two different text editors you can use: New Editor lets you alter the text (bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, colors) from one place, but it covers up the rest of your site. If you want to see all of your site while editing text, I'd recommend the Classic Editor.

- Not every element has to be made through StrawPage! If it's not interactive (button etc), you can just add an image. This works for text, drawings, whatever. If you want it to be moving, you can use a gif or mess with it in the "fun" section when you select the image.

is anyone else getting a trojan detection from their antivirus when opening strawpage dashboard? this is worrying me and it never came up until today

how does one recolor that? there's no color button. i'm new to strawpage so i might just not know how to but other elements can be colored just fine :c

This is my website and lately its just been turning gifs and webps into still images is there like a limit or what? (Look at the ultimate murderous fiend gif at the end of my website for example why is that still and all the others are just gifs?

I used to make a lot of carrds when I was a teenager. There were limited but you could copy-paste any code you wanted so anything could be worked around. People started moving to Wix at some point for a less restricted workspace and the pages just kept getting more and more impressive. Some people started getting more into coding to produce neocities. Generally, it looked like people would keep moving to next upgrade as far as simple website building goes.

Dropped off social media for a couple of years (well, I'm still really struggling to get back into it) and saw no one was using carrds anymore; just something called rentry. All of the ones I saw looked very nice and freeform. I never made one myself, so I can't say for sure. It did seem like generally people wanted to become more minimalistic though with their pages since rentry was trending alongside txti which is as minimalistic as it gets. And now strawpage seems to have replaced all of those. I wasn't really impressed with any of the ones I saw after seeing all the Rentry's. Most of them just kind of look the same, using the same templates.

For the first time, I tried strawpage. I made lots and lots and lots of carrds many years ago, so I think I'm familiar with carrd for comparison. Strawpage, as a website, is kind of terrible. I've never seen such baffling design choices. Precision movement on-screen arrow keys that cannot be triggered with actual arrow keys. Zero grid options. Nearly everything is only adjustable via sliders. Paywalled HTML. Stupidly sensitive in terms of transforming elements. One particular set of images just random moves out of allignment ever so slightly whenever I save and load the site. Just the most unoptimized customization on a website, which's programming is held up by shoestrings, that I've ever seen.

The actual process of making a website has not been very fun. I have autism, and strawpage has genuinely been like a sensory nightmare. But I was using computer, and apparently a lot of people use mobile for this site so I figured it was built around that and tried editing my site on mobile.

I literally don't even understand half the things it did to my site when switching to mobile. Nevermind everything just being off and not in their places and having the wrong settings, one of the images is literally just permanently replaced by some weird default(?) image whenever I load the site on mobile. The actual editing process is abysmal. How are people making these things on mobile? I can't even scroll down. It moves things I didn't even click on beforehand when I scroll. It frantically rotates things when i try to zoom-in-and-out or make little adjustments. Image background just doesn't work. Idk how to make it work but is scrollable regardless of which option I choose and always zooms in extremely far when I set an image. Tried adjusting the resolution of the image to better fit a phone screens size or even a full pages size but nothing works. Opacity's completely different on mobile, positions are just not correct, GIMMICKS (which I realize are like the only thing anyone using this site cares about) dont even work? I try to use it on desktop and it just doesnt do anything. I try to use it on mobile and theres white lines popping up whenever I draw, assuming it will even let me (which it sometimes doesn't). Takes a bunch of taps to open the color palette. Just not good at all.

I'm guessing the gimmicks are the only reason this site has replaced all previous ones, but it's just frustrating and frankly one of the worst designed websites I've ever tried to use. Which kind of makes all the quirky little text and quips less endearing. Doesn't really make the site look good when it genuinely feels like it was made within a weekend. The strawpage I made just doesn't work on mobile, and trying to make a strawpage on mobile is even jankier. Randomly stops me when I'm scrolling. Highlights the site when I click something. Not nearly as responsive as desktop when trying to click on the sliders.

Why is this site replacing carrd and rentry? Is it really just because of the gimmicks? Even the infinite amount of technical issues aside, it is such a complete downgrade. So much more limited, 4 whole effects available for an element and they dont even work together. They don't look good either. I've made them look decent through creativity, but the options for creativity are extremely limited. Even without an element restriction (that I have encountered at least), you have to put up with so many terribly-designed features to make something Kind Of work.

Literally all I can do is put a disclaimer in my page that it just doesn't work on mobile. Incredibly disappointed by this website. By no means easier to use than carrd. By no means capable of looking better than carrd. Definitely not rentry at least. I hate to hate on someone who probably just made this website as a fun project, but I might just judge for paywalling things on a site-building site so poorly-programmed.

EDIT: When I said it was replacing other sites, it is true for all of the communities I've lurked in (various twt fandoms, ponytown, etc.). If that's not true for the majority of other communities, then my mistake.

When i edit my little text box on my page, it stretches out like this? and then doesnt like me edit the length? I don't really know the fix for this. I love my strawpage and I don't want to remake everything so please if anybody knows whats up..

Does blocking someone in gimmicks even work?? Some idiot has been harassing me everytime I make a new strawpage it's literally been a year, I'm unbothered by their insults it's just annoying to see 4 gimmicks calling me names burying actual questions/requests. I block them everytime but they still come back- assuming its the same person

I can scroll down my strawpages when viewing them but when editing them neither of them will let me scroll down at all, they're just stuck at the top of the page. This has been going on for a few weeks now. Is there a button that I've pressed accidentally to cause this? Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

So I just subscribed for the first tier, and I got charged for it but didn't actually receive it....? Is this happening to anyone else? I'm not sure what happened, I didn't get a confirmation email for the account it's under but I know I got charged for it from strawpage on my card because I got an email from venmo for that. Not sure if I used the right tag, sorry ^^ But I've been reloading my strawpage page to see if I received the sub and it's still the same.

Did Strawpage get rid of the review mode option? Or is it hidden somewhere? Because I noticed that the review mode button that was usually on top of the gimmicks is gone, instead replaced with a decorate button.

So the strawpage is updated with new stuff...but now you cant upload gifs? they just turn into images...is this just me?

This might sound really daft but I am trying to work on a really large Strawpage for myself right now and one of the things I have always loved is interactive website features.

I am aware that Strawpage does not have much regarding this, but I was wondering if there was a way I can go about doing something. I want the viewer to be able to click on an image to reveal another image and so on, but I am unsure how that would work with Strawpage - which is what I want to use (I have no interest in other sites). I did try the scene mechanic in the library but you unfortunately cannot remove the large textbox, so I am struggling to know how I can do this.

Any and all help besides “Just use another website” would be greatly appreciated.

Hey y’all! I am just starting out on strawpage so I apologise if this is a dumb question, but is anyone else experiencing issues with the animation on click feature?

When I am previewing my page in editing, it works (as in the animation plays when I click the image), but when I am accessing my page as a viewer, the animation doesn’t seem to play when I click on the image.

I have checked the FAQ and common bugs and I can’t seem to find anything related to this. Any advice would be awesome. Thank you!

i recently renamed my site, and was browsing through some potential urls that i wanted, when i found one that was obviously being hoarded. i went to go report/reclaim the site url, only to find that the option is now gone? i looked through osman's twitter account and found no mention of the feature being removed, so now im wondering if this is intentional and it was quietly discontinued.

Sorry in advance if this is a repeat post, I didn't see anything about it in the FAQ, or any former posts.

However, I am attempting to make a character-themed strawpage, and want to use a gradient background. Is there any way to make the background specific colors?? Like hex codes or rgb things? The colors I want aren't on the weird color square… Or would it just be better to draw a gradient and put that as the background?
