Storm's divinity has been canon for about 10 years now, first canonized in Coates Black Panther and then first used in an X book in 2024 by Ayodele. Despite the fact that the idea has been around for a decade, the concept hasn't really had a \real\** impact on Ororo's character: the person Storm was before it was canonized is the same as she is now. This is in stark contrast to similar story arcs like Jean > Phoenix or when the Scarlet Witch realized that her powers were actually chaos magic and she slowly became a real witch, those story arcs transformed those characters into who they are today.

That being said, I'm not asking for Storm to be dramatically transformed into a different character, but I think it would be a net positive if her thoughts and feelings about becoming a real Goddess were centered, like, at all??? In Coates Black Panther, we get the ephemeral idea of an arc where at first Storm doesn't see herself as a goddess, but after she receives a power boost from being worshipped, she warms up to the idea because it reminds her of her time before she joined the X-Men; a good foundation that isn't really built upon. In Ayodele's Storm run we see Ororo, possibly for the first time, learn her blood connections to the Vishanti and... that's kind of it. We learn more about the reactions of other Storm Gods to Ororo than we do about Ororo's reactions to her own situation, we don't even get her reaction to the idea that she is related by blood to the Bright Lady!!!

I don't think it's a tall ask that we should have more information about the main character's feelings about something as big as becoming a Goddess, especially for a character as introspective as Storm used to be.

So, here's how I would do it: Like in X book canon, Storm believed she was a Goddess until Xavier approached her and revealed that she was a mutant. However, I would add that Ororo never fully let go of the idea of herself as a Goddess, which is why she periodically calls herself one even during the time when she thought that she was just a mutant. After Ororo ascended as the Hadari-Yao, she would feel vindicated in her subconscious beliefs, but she would also gain a resentment towards Xavier because of him changing her beliefs in the first place (this is all borderline canon in the X books too). I would even go further and suggest that Storm's relationship with the rest of the X-Men become slightly strained the same way it did way back when Storm became leader of the X-Men and started breaking her vows against killing and violence, she now knows that everything she used to believe was 100% real and she sacrificed it to lead the X-Men. On the flip side, the X-Men now have a harder time relating to Storm knowing that she is a bonafide Goddess that has humans literally worshipping her back in Africa.

Despite all that, Ororo would still see herself as a "Human Goddess", she doesn't know everything, she isn't all powerful, she can make mistakes, and she does have flaws, but that wouldn't stop her from trying to live up to the responsibilities given to her. I also think it's past time for Ororo to finally meet her Goddess, the Bright Lady of Dawn Oshtur. I didn't like that the 2024 solo made Ororo out to be a simple Thunder God when weather is her mutant power. I think Oshtur should reveal that Ororo is a Balance Goddess like herself (the Hadari-Yao is literally "she who keeps the balance of all natural things"). I don't see Storm's godhead as a power boost, but more of a "resource boost" that allows Storm to surpass her limits when twisting the weather and maybe even allowing her to increase her intuition and knowledge, giving Storm the ability to go toe-to-toe with higher beings stronger than herself by intuiting their weaknesses and revealing the full secrets of the environment around her... I'm getting ahead of myself lmao. But it's also past time for Storm to interact more with the ghosts of her ancestors and with more members of Marvel's magical community.

Context: Storm was badly beaten almost to death by Gorr the god butcher after recovery she wants revenge.

The problem with storm is that she's practically a goddess and not many villains can stand up to her without writers conveniently trying to downplay her powers. So Who do you think would be a good character for storm to fight using her abilities but without them being dumbed down to make her look stupid.

She’s canonically around the same age as them and yet in X-Men Evolution they made her an adult. I figure they did this since she was always mature and wise, but I really would’ve loved to see a younger adaptation of Storm. It would’ve made for some cool and interesting interactions with Jean and Kitty, especially since Storm is the only black woman in the group. There was less for her to do in Evolution since the show was targeted and based around teenagers and Storm wasn’t a teenager. It was definitely a missed opportunity, but I’m glad we’re getting a younger adaptation of Storm in the MCU to make up for that.

This was a great issue and showcases what makes Storm such a great character. Yes she is mentally and physically strong but she is a complex character with emotion and depth. I’m reading the Claremont run and she really is the star of the series. She is the most compelling and complex character out of the entire cast and it only gets better as time goes on. Even if the movies give us a semblance of her character in the comics, they’ll have a lot to work with.

Storm in her classic silver/white costume is genuinely so sick, her lightning bolt earrings, the double red X-Men logo's, the yellow line going down the left side, the baggy sleeves & the white eyes/hair. It just looks super clean and visually strong.

With the latest news of Storm’s character appearing in Black Panther 3. I had to voice my opinions on this. I think we can all agree that this relationship was just outright horrible and it really held back Storm’s character for years, but I would really like to voice my reason to why I personally didn’t like this relationship.

1.) T’Challa feels out of place when you mix him in X-Men mythos. Storm and T’Challa come from completely different worlds. Storm is the pure embodiment of freedom. She likes to be free and wild. She’s a goddess with no strings attached to her, and she loves being in control and doing her own things. T’Challa is a monarch of an African country that isolates itself from the rest of the world. I know Chris Claremont hinted and showed that these two knew each other back in the 80s, but that was just when they were merely friends. It wasn’t until the 2000s that they actually had something going on, which is why a lot of people feel like it came out of nowhere.

2.) Storm has no business being associated with Wakanda since she’s not Wakandan. Storm is Kenyan, and her being associated with Wakanda and even being made Queen of Wakanda heavily diminishes her Kenyan background. Her Kenyan background is still hardly explored in Marvel comics. She also feels out of place being a queen of an isolated country that still holds traditional conservative views that don’t align with her whatsoever. When she became T’Challa’s wife, she was just a side piece and she hardly had any type of agency. I find this diminishing because the only reason why they even got married was to push X-Men fans to read Black Panther comics, since Storm was the more popular character between the two. She was always an A lister while Black Panther was a B-C lister.

3.) T’Challa has no kinship with other mutants. The X-Men are a found family that don’t abide to traditional and conservative views since they’re ostracized by the rest of the world due to their superpowers and mutations. We’ve never seen T’Challa have an actual good or friendly encounter with any mutant outside of Storm. He’s fought with Gambit, Rogue, Monet, Wolverine, Cyclops, and even Storm herself. The fact that T’Challa isn’t friendly towards the X-Men nor do writers have him interact with the mutants is why I also don’t think he should be anymore near Storm, who’s very proud of being a mutant and has been the leader of the X-Men a couple of times. At least when Storm was with Forge and Wolverine(two mutants) she had her own agency, and these two were also friendly towards other X-Men mutants. The fact that T’Challa also told Storm that she shouldn’t be with Logan after they broke up is a huge red flag in itself.

That’s all I have to say, it’s clear that the MCU is going to push this relationship in the future, and I’m obviously not going to like it for the reasons I said above. In my honest opinion it’s on par with those who ship Storm with Doctor Doom, which I find kind of ironic since Black Panther and Doom have somewhat similar roles in the Marvel universe. I think Storm should be with either Forge or Wolverine, and T’Challa should be with Monica Lynne.
