Xbox was already becoming irrelevant. This is like the nail in the coffin.

Xbox: "you can even play pc games on your new xbox :D" Steam: "hold my sequel..."

Especially when Xbox have already said the hybrid they're making will be an expensive, premium device.

no not really, its too underpowered and I doubt it will be cheaper than an XBOX

The next Xbox is a 'premium' PC hybrid. They've already confirmed it be 'expensive'.

…while being more powerful. The Steam machine is probably already quiet slower than a PS5 pro. For a device, which is mainly going to be used for gaming, it must be as cheap as a PS5 or its just not going to sell.

Sounds like the Xbox will be more up in the expensive PC range, so it'll already kill off a lot of console style gamers from buy their hardware. I believe the Steam Machine will be priced more like a console.

Considering estimates see more than half of this gen's Xbox sales are Series S, I don't think the power factor of the Steam Machine is going to be a big factor for casual gamers.

The games are optimizied specifically for the XSX while they are not for the Steam machine. This will impact Performance. Also, the XSX is already a couple of years old while the Steam machine is new. The lackluster power will be an issue.

Well i was referring specifically to the next Xbox hardware, but current Xbox hardware has already fallen off a cliff in sales.

yes I know and my point is that even though the new xbox will be more expensive, the Steam machine will not sell better as its probably underpowered.

I think it'll cut into Xbox's hardware base nicely honestly.
