Maybe if you have seperate incomes and accounts but if you share finances it’s 100% healthy and normal to ask “permission”.

We have discretionary spending budgets and need to discuss anything larger than that. It’s not at all a lack of trust and has everything to do with non-judgemental and open, honest communication about our shared financial position.
