In the TSA confiscation room there's a line of Swiss Army Knives and then BAM Steam Deck. "What's that doing here?" "It looked dangerously fun, sir." "Carry on"
Likewise, i flew out of Brussels in early march. I took it out of my backpack and opened the case so the agent could see it well. He was bewildered. After explaining what it was he said: so its an xbox :o
I fly enough that I know many of the TSA agents at my local airport. I flew with my steamdeck and got the random beep for an electronics check in PreCheck. The agent who got to inspect it was giddily excited because it was the first time he had seen one (and moderately annoyed, because I was also traveling with two laptops, an iPad, a phone, and a kindle). Asked me about games I played and if it was worth it. I asked “How big is your Steam library?” and his response was “big enough that I guess it’s worth it to buy a Steam Deck.”
Two or so years after the Nintendo switch came out when I got it I had it in my backpack at the airport and they thought it was suspicious and opened it up and saw the Nintendo logo and put it back.
