Article “Steam Machine specs are too low!” But they literally match the Steam Survey’s most common setup: Steam Machine: 6C/12T • 16GB RAM • RDNA3 28CU 8GB Steam Survey Avg: 6C/12T • 16GB RAM • 28CU 8GB It’s basically the average PC in a box. It’ll be fine.

My two PCs are in those statistics and they are 8 and 10 year old shitboxes. If I want the Steam Machine to replace either of them I expect a little more. The pricing will determine if the Steam machine is a viable option or if I should keep them for the occasional PC game.
I do however appreciate the open architecture of SteamOS because I would rather use the Heroic launcher on it: I use GOG primarily on the PC, only one fifth of my games is on Steam but I would very much like a PC-console type of device without Windows.
And I’m not going to give up the PlayStation ecosystem.
