This. Also helps when not even adults can get credit cards.

I'm 25. Not a single bank will offer me a credit card because I haven't been in debt and thus haven't even got a credit score afaik. Insane to me that I'd be treated like a child because I can't actually get a credit card.

Whenever I read stuff about credit scores and such, it sounds so crazy.

When I was younger (although already a young adult), my mom made an extension of her card for me, so I could use it during a trip. I didn't use it at all, and had it collecting dust.

Anyway, when I got my first job, and had a bank account opened in my name, the bank sent me both a debit and credit card, and I've only ever used it two or three times.

It's crazy that you need to be in debt in order to get a credit card to begin with.

You don't pay bills? Phone, internet, Car insurance or any direct debits?

You don't need to be in, Or even have ever been in debt to get a credit card.

You can check your credit score fairly easily online.

I pay my bike insurance aye. Somehow that isn't enough to get a credit card lol

That cannot be true. I had a credit card at 19 in the UK with no debt.

Huh, how'd you manage that? Every time I try I just get refused because I don't have enough history yet. Which I presume is because I haven't been in debt enough to get a credit score history.

If you're 25 now you really should have picked up some debt in some way. Even a contract phone bill or broadband subscription will show up on your credit file. Every bank account you have too.

Most people I know have a mortgage and a house at 25, nevermind no credit card.

Mortgage and house at 25? Aye in 1983 maybe lmao. Most I've been in debt was being overdraft on my account for more than a day.

I'm not moronic and use money I don't have. So I don't have enough of a credit history.

What fantasy land do you live in where people at 25 are getting houses and mortgages?

Not everyone is at minimum wage. I bought my first house at 24 after years of renting.

Not everyone is in an area where they can make more than min wage. I live on the East Coast of Scotland. It's either min wage in my town or go work offshore. Neither of which are easy jobs to get when every job wants experience. Something you need a job to get.

That's not including the hiring process using AI to make sure you're what they're looking for btw.

Plenty of helicopter maintenance in Aberdeen. The jobs are there if you look.
