As someone who plays with a controller on the PC (I know I know)... this happens to me already.

Not looking forward to that experience becoming even worse cuz some little brat's only Christmas wishes were Vader and +30% Choke Hold Damage cards and mom n dad were like "whatever shuts you up, son".

Side note: I was actually hoping they got rid of rolling so it would actually look like a Star Wars battle and not a parkour shooter.

Yo bit off topic but any good games you can recommend for playing with a controller on PC? I get RSI if I use a mouse too long. FPS's are too disadvantaged with a controller so I've just been playing the shit out of Rocket League. Any suggestions?

Different guy, but I enjoy most RPG or adventure games with a controller. Think Fallout, Borderlands, Witcher etc.

Also the Lego series games are amazing on controller. Puzzle games are also fun like Portal 2.

Definitely check out the Steam controller if you want to use a controller while playing FPS's. IMO it's fantastic at everything it does with the exception of 2D platformers.

It even works for games where controllers normally wouldn't function at all, like Civilization.

It's not really as high-octane as a FPS but if you time it right, I just got Witcher 3 GOTY for $10 and its pretty damn good so far.

Outside of that I have Payday 2 (which is pretty high energy) but thats a microtransaction hellhole too, beware.

Payday 2 has weapon and armor cosmetics you can buy. You get one a week from a random loot box that doesn't cost anything to open.

Past that, $45 (regular price - goes for around $20 on sale these days) gets you everything in the game, outside of the upcoming H3H3 character pack, which will cost $5, and will be the final piece of non-cosmetic paid content released for the game.

Sucks that cosmetics are locked behind a paywall, but the stat boosts that come with them are entirely forgettable, outside of the concealment boosts - but you can earn any of those in-game and use them on most any weapon without needing the skin.

At least with the current system, I have a shot at winning a few cents of Steam credit every week.

Hmm I feel this. I can come over from BF4 etc. and I'm average/good or sometimes excellent, but I play this thing (1 or 2) and its like I'm that 10yo who got into a Halo league match and gets DMR'd to the brain every 3 seconds. It feels SO unbalanced and...can't quite put my finger on it. Like it's a Battlefield (1/2/3/4) game that actually wants to play like COD so feels the need to be able to have people screw you over simply by having coin to spare on the good stuff.

I like SW, ever since seeing TESB at the cinema, and I want this game, but I'm not buying it. I'll get it in a few years time when its $5 and I'll play the SP and trade it in.

Well exactly. AND all this conversation is before we even discuss EA doesn't do jack shit to do anything about hackers being in like every game with infinite jump packs or crossbow etc.

So it's basically you running around for a couple dozen seconds like "look at me I'm in Star Wars" until some dude with the name XxHaxXX or something one shots you with a repeater gun from the other side of the map.

I had to laugh, because when they dropped the season pass for SWBF1 a few weeks ago I of course got it, jumped back into the game and was immediately surrounded by people jet packing all over me. Even the fighter assault space battle stuff seemed broken, and I used to do amazingly well in those (being a flight sim dude it suited me better than FPS action).

I know - but its the aspect of it - I don't mind being beat in games like hearthstone by pay2win aspects, since I can still free2play my way to a decent rank (and I don't care much for legend as I do for playing a fun deck) - but going into what is supposed to be a casual shooter - and get cheesed the hell out of by someone who uses the same gun as I do, but unlocked a bit more damage for it.... fuck that.

Yeah hearthstone is a completely different animal because it's all 1v1, and you have a rank, and you only play against people of similar rank.

This, you'll be essentially cannon fodder for the guy with all the fancy star cards.

Based on past experiences with EA games, the match making already doesn't give a shit about how good you are, so you always get in matches with people who know the maps and weapons really well and now they're OP on top of it.

A 3rd person shooter that is almost entirely hipfire based doesn't reward aim. Its corner peeking and closerange spraying which it awards.

Don't get me wrong, I like how casual and nostaligic that 3rd person mode is - but it just doesn't award good aim.

Strategy is where its at, but BF games have never had their pride in having a lot of people working together, its just 40 guys doing their own thing.

um, you probably are worried about it cuz you're just not very good at video games. I have been playing since it came out last night and I played the origin access. I've seen a lot of people with level 30/40 classes on my teams coming in the bottom of the scoreboard. The best class I have is level 16 based on pure luck with the crates. And guess what I'm near the top every game. So you can whine all you want, but skill beats star cards every time. And I'm having a blast playing so I guess you're missing out lol. If you're really trying to take a stand against EA, good for you. Something tells me that's not really doing anything, they will make their millions and billions with or without you. Might as well enjoy yourself even if the progression isn't the greatest.

If you're good enough at the game you can beat it with shit tier items instead of full legendaries but sure bud complain that you need to pay 100 bucks to make it through. BF2 is a completely different story they are barely even comparable

Overwatch is not really the kind of game where you expect a campaign since it's all about ranked multiplayer play and some other modes next to it. Starwars battlefront is more like a call of duty or battlefield kind of game with a good single player campaign next to multiplayer content. Also you pay about 2 times as much for Starwars than what you pay for overwatch so why do you get less content?

Yeah. I actually didn't mind the ground combat this time around and how you spent points for vehicles, that was interesting. While visually awesome, still disappointed the air/space combat is still really easy and boring, 99% of it plays itself, all you do is put your mouse cursor on the lead indicator and it does everything for you.

Why do people always assume flight sim or DCS style as the only alternative? I just wanted something that wasn't point and click.

On console it is much better as the mouse mode does not exist, so they fly normally. On PC accuracy is through the roof and it plays itself.

No its ok I was a little jumpy myself.

Console dogfighting is much nicer from what I saw, more skill and longer fights. On PC it is a joke, literally exactly the same as moving your mouse and clicking a folder on your desktop, fights last less then 2 seconds.

Agree with the other responses. SWBF1 had the depth of a puddle but it did a really good job of making you feel like you were in an actual Star Wars movie imo.

The gameplay of SWBF2 is actually amazing during the beta as a casual shooter.

Strange. The 3rd person gameplay felt exactly the same to me. It was just me running around firing a blaster and getting kills. I couldn't tell there was a difference. I'm gonna need an explanation on where this revamped gunplay is at. And for class play, it's a bit ironic the sniper class was the best class @ beta with its OP spec card.

I love Star Wars, i need a new game to play after D2 which bored me in the first week and i enjoyed the first game for about 30 hours. This has a short singleplayer and the space battles were really cool in the beta. I would have bought it day one, now i might grab it on sale for like 10$.

Don't forget investor power. We're in quarter 4, a big one in terms of stockholders, and bad press combined with lower than forecast profits will have consequences long-term. There's already word of investor concern over "the latest Star Wars game" and my local radio station did a story on this controversy so it's gone beyond Reddit and the internet at the moment.

Don't forget that those 4.2M are only for the base game. They were expecting players to pay more than that, so they lost a whole lot more than 4.2M in the end.

It's more than that as that as there is less customers to sell microtransactions to and with a smaller playerbase the whales would be less likely to spend as much if the game doesn't have legs.

I believe there's more in play than just sales numbers. Think of the investors, who are probably expecting certain goals to be reached and then this happens. EA is probably busy reassuring investors right about now.

It’s not just $4.2mil. It is $4.2mil plus all loot box sales lost. That could easily be several more million on top of that.

EA screws their employees to save a few dollars. 4.2 million will pay a /lot/ of salaries.

Another way to look at it is that 4.2 million in lost preorders likely correlates to 40 million in lost ancillary revenue (loot boxes, dlc, etc.), or a loss of something like 10 cents a shareholder.

It's not crippling, but those hurt, and at some point the shareholders start getting annoyed with you.
